Side discharge air vent deflector?

I have standard ceiling vents in our house. In my office the vent blows right on me. I would like to use a deflector which would discharge the air “sideways” into the room, as that would eliminate the air blowing on me. The standard air deflectors I have found only allow you discharge the air along the long side or the vent. I could do this, but it would blow right against the wall then.
Has anyone ever come across a deflector which has discharges on the short sides of the vent? My Google-fu is failing me.

and what happens if you turn the deflector to face the opposite direction? Where would it blow then?

It would keep it blowing in my direction.

this is ceiling, right? It should either be blowing at the wall or across the ceiling with a deflector. Why would it be going right at you with the deflector?

Well, it would be blowing across the ceiling across the room to the opposite wall, against which is my desk.

Could you remove the register and turn it around to have the air blow in a different direction
Have you looked into those magnetic covers for the register? Cut to cover the air being directed to you and forced out of the side slats?

I guess that’s an option. Or I could get a new register that only sends the air in the direction I want. That’s probably the best option.

its the only option you have

they only make 2 types of rectangular vent grilles 2 way or 3 way. well they do have 1 ways but they arent stocked anywhere so they are hard to find so you would have to order it
also there are shut off veins on all the grilles that can be used to help deflect the air, but you never want to close them more then 40% at the most, or it restricts the air and hurts your cooling in that room
if its a 3 way then take the grill down and flip it the other way, then slowly close the veins with the slide lever just until it make a difference and that should do what you want. beyond that, just move your desk to other side of the room

When I built my home, the HVAC guys put the registers near the walls and pointed the them toward the wall. I asked why weren’t pointed toward the interior of the room. They told me the air will bounce off the wall and will be pulled into the room and thus not having a “dead spot” around the perimeter of the room. The house heats and cools just fine so maybe it will be ok for the deflector to aim the air at the wall.

Around here it is common to put the registers right in front of the windows and aim the registers at the windows. I think this is more of a practice common in areas with more heating than cooling season. It helps reduce the chill from the windows and cold spots due to it.
Another factor is where is the return for the room? You dont want to aim a supply directly at a return or you wont get nice balance/distribution of temperature in the room. You will essentially "short circuit."

Probably under the doors to the next room like 95% of places…kidding mostly, but anyone that acts like all rooms have returns is crazy as that’s very very far from normal.
Yes OP have you tried switching your vent around and adjusting the slider?
But you are correct, you’d think they’d make something to do that. Did you try Amazon?
I had a rental property that had a vent next to the tub in the spare bath that was above the kitchen. Fricking kids would constantly splash water out and into the return and then through the ceiling.

It has been standard design here in the midwest for many decades. I have seen a house in Dallas that didn't have in-wall returns within rooms but I was hoping that was rare. The AC in that house was terrible as even the gap at the bottom of the doors was way too small. When the AC ran, the doors were always pressured shut. The static pressure on the system had to be terrible.
