Need about 400 sf of sod in my yard after cutting down some trees. What’s a ballpark cost of having someone do it for me? How much would just the sod cost if I were to do it myself? In Houston fwiw

Just buy a pallet and do it yourself, or get your husband to lay it

One pallet is about 400 sqft.
Price anywhere from $180-250 (not delivered). Will be hard to find someone professional to lay that for you. Better off you and a buddy and a case of beer.

Gonna probably be $250-350 delivered; typically delivery requires 4+ pallets so if you can get 1 delivered it’ll be costly. I’d do it yourself

Sod isn't that expensive. 400 sq ft. is less than $300. Actually laying the sod is easy. It's all the prep work of clearing area, tilling, and leveling that takes man hrs and is a pain in the arse.
If all you have to do is pick up and lay it then it would only take 3 hrs or so total.

One pallet if you pick it up will be in the $200 range. If you or a friend has a pickup truck you can pick it up, but word of caution it's heavy as shite. You'll be riding low in a regular truck. You can do it yourself over a couple of hours, or you can swing by the Lowe's or HD and get an hombre to help you out for $100 or so.
Also water the shite out of it at the beginning especially in these hot/dry conditions. Once it's "set" you can back off the sprinklers.

I can lay the sod, I’ve done it before and it’s not rocket science. Just don’t really want to do it myself, and also need to bring the dirt level down a good bit in a couple of places and I don’t want to deal with finding somewhere to dump it.
