Thoughts on privacy fences with horizontal boards?

Looks like I'm in need of a new 6' privacy fence, one one side of my house. About 140' or so. I kind of like the look of horizontal fences, but I don't know if they'll hold up or if it's more expensive. Hell, I don't even know if it'll meet code in EBR/Central.

I like them but I feel they are more appropriate if you have a mid-century modern or other contemporary house. I also don't care for the one in your pic. I like the ones that vary the width of the boards.
Or has a decorative change of board size at the top
As for cost and durability, there are many ways to construct a horizontal fence but I think your posts should be max 6' apart since you are spanning that distance without rails as you would have on a vertical fence. The boards will not have rails as support across that span so will be more prone to cupping and less "solid" if something heavy hits it, say a drunk on a scooter. So putting posts at 6' o.c. vs. a typical 8' o.c. for a vertical fence will drive up the costs.

There is one Recently installed in a neighborhood I drive through a lot.
I like it; and their dog definitely likes it (they spaced the boards so he can see through) but it’s very obvious where the ground wasn’t even.

That's something I'm contemplating at this time because I have close to 300' of shadow box style fence to replace. I'll have to get some pricing options.

Nice looking fences in those pics, but that wood they used is going to be $$$$$ if you have much footage to fence in.

I have no idea on cost, but I can tell you that I love the look. If it’s in the budget, go for it.

I had about 150' installed in March. Posts spaced at 6'. Used 5/4 pressure treated pine deck boards for a total height of 5'. Looks good and have gotten a lot of compliments. Fairly expensive though...

Was it under $4k?

Yeah probably about right. I had about 100' of 5' black chain link at same time and all together it was like $5500

Did one around my pool, the cedar the guy used was deck wood and fairly expensive. I like the look of it though
