Tifway 419 vs TifTuf

This board has convinced me to convert my current yard (centipede, native Bermuda, but mostly weeds) to full Bermuda. I have a smallish (~500 SF) section in the front of the house that is all torn up and river sand (I know) from a construction project. I need to level that out a bit, but will sod that area, to mitigate tracking shite into the house. I’m down to Tifway 419 and TifTuf. I realize I won’t be able to seed the rest of the yard with the same grass, but figure I can cut plugs once the section is established and go from there.
Which of these two should I go with and why?
TIA.

Either would be fine, does that area receive full sun? If there’s shade, then you’ll have trouble keeping it think a year or two down the road.

It gets at least 6 hours a day, so I’m good on the sun part…

TifTuf is just the latest upgrade to tifway419. It is grows in faster, greens up earlier, requires less water, supposedly needs less sun, etc. just overall tougher and more aggressive. Tiffway is still tough and aggressive though.
Both look the same but TifTuf will have shorter distance between nodes. Both are the same light green rather than deep green like celebration.

This what I would use. Common will give you nice yard if you maintain it as will any bermuda

I like celebration too and that’s why I mentioned it. It’ll look better from a distance for sure just because of the color.
TifTuf, like the new tahoma43 is a straight-up super grass though. The way it grows and thickens up is just impressive even under neglect. It’s also super cheap because it is so easy to farm.

Tiftuf’s color is light green. But drought resistance is excellent.
Are those your only two choices?

My house is a light green, so a darker green grass would provide better contrast. But that’s largely a non-issue, since there’s a garden that helps separate the house and lawn.

Those are the only two Bermuda sods my local guy carries and I’m definitely using sod for this first area (1000 SF). I’m also somewhat considering palisades zoysia, but I’m certainly willing to explore alternative options.
Here’s my logic:
I like the durability of Bermuda. I live on a corner; people constantly short their turn and wear out the lawn there. We also play on the grass with the kiddo and dog a lot and I really like the soft, fine texture of Bermuda on bare feet. I read TifTuf is very aggressive, which I like for areas of wear, and that it “carpets” somewhat by Bermuda standards (was hoping that might help hide weeds a bit better than other Bermuda variants, but maybe that’s wishful thinking).
On the palisades, I like that it chokes out weeds better than Bermuda and requires less fertilization, but to me it feels thatchy underfoot. Also, it’s about 30% more expensive than the Bermuda. That’s not a huge deal, but I have a bunch of common Bermuda on the back side of my yard, and figure it will probably take over the zoysia eventually anyway, so why spend more…
If anyone has more feedback given the book above, I’d certainly appreciate it.

Not sure TifTuf is good with bare feet or not. Might need to look that up. It definitely feels good with shoes on but it does have a thicker and denser thatch layer than some other Bermuda.

A healthy, frequently mowed lawn will get thick enough to choke out weeds whether is be zoysia or Bermuda.
You’ll read that Bermuda does “require” more fertilizer, but I look at it moreso that it just likes more and will thrive the more you push it with nitrogen. It will be fine with less though.

Good feedback, thanks. I’ll be cutting with a rotary mower, so that’s definitely something to consider (I thought I had recalled reading Tifway and TifTuf handled being cut a little higher than some varieties— Celebration included).
