Did you watch a video on how to do it? Have you ever changed one before?

It's really not that hard as long as you know what steps to take.

did mine at the beginning of the season. variable drive pully went out last season so replaced all the belts. have to remove the dual idler bracket under the foot rest to get the belt back in easier... its a PITA to get back on, but other than that the hardest part is getting it around the variable speed pulley.

its super easy but you do need an impact driver with 5/8" socket, to remove the crankshaft bolt, there is no other way to remove it.

then you can lower the pulley, to change the belt before pushing it back in place to tighten it.

the deck needs to be completely disconnected and removed first in order for you to get to the drive belt, then before reinstalling the belt, make sure the 2 idler pulleys for it are not worn out, they usually are if they are more than 5 years old

youtube has videos to show you how to do it, not all mowers are the same, some require the rear end to be disconnected to get the new belt on.

this guy was an idiot, he took the body off, which does not need to be removed, it just adds a ton of extra work, but this video with the body removed does gives you a good chance to see how everything connects

no it doesnt, not at all. i used to fix mowers for a living.

it takes me 15-20 minutes to replace the drive belt after the deck has been removed, and the only thing i remove other than the deck is the crank pulley and tranny pulley.

for the VSP you use twine tied to a screwdriver to pull the lever to remove the belts. work smarter, not harder.
