anyone have any experience with this company? they reached out via email and offered a free quote & consultation.
haven't gotten pricing back yet & if its not absurdly high, I may give them a shot.
any experience or feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I started using TruGreen 2 years ago to assist with my lawn. At the time my job had me away from home alot and I was having issued keeping everything up.
The 1st year with them was great. I had hardley any weeds, the grass was thick and healthy, and overall I was very pleased.
I even had a few neighbors sign up with them because they were so impressed on how my yard looked.
Well - this past year my yard had not looked near as good. I honestly wonder if they have been treating it the same as they had the 1st year.
Last week they emailed me a survey form, and I was pretty honest with my opinion. Apparently it struck a nerve with them. Someone came out to my house to evaluate my yard. Spoke on the phone while he was at the yard looking at it, he basically recommended I do about $500 worth of work to it in the spring ( dethatching, aerating, putting on a top layer of compost, etc) it just really rubbed me the wrong way that I've already expressed my concern about lack of results and now you want me to spend another $500 with you? I think I'm getting ready to drop them and start handling it myself again

Thanks for the input.
Being gone a lot is mainly why I would consider giving them a try.
good to know on the up-sells.

I used them when they were Scott's lawn care. I fired them twice. They did a good job on the weeds, but my grass was never that green nor would it grow. The coverage was also thin. I have since hired lawn doctor and my yard looks great. I can take a pic of my neighbors yard that is treated by trugreen and then a pic of mine if you would like. Probably won't be until tomorrow though.

I tried them when I lived in Florida. I had done yard work as a kid but didn't know the ins and outs of fertilizing and watering a lawn since where I grew up, they weren't necessary. Living in almost pure sand in Florida changes things.
Long story short, they charged me almost double than what we agreed on over the phone and the guy that came out to my house tried telling me that the grass was St. Aug when it was really Centipede.
I promptly told them I wasn't using them going forward, I did some research and got on a good watering schedule, and learned to stop fertilizing my centipede.
In my opinion it isn't worth it and if you do some research into your type of soil and grass, you can save some money and headaches.

Thanks Janky. That shouldn't be necessary though.

I have just used for Mosquito control and they seem to do a good job.
Have quite a few friends in the neighborhood that use them and are pleased. Quotes were cheaper than locally owned and they were more reliable.

Its all new centipede sod (front laid in Jan - back laid in April)
Back took root way better than the front.
I am new at this lawn thing so don’t roast me too bad.

I fired them up here in Md... there are certain weeds that cost too much for them to treat so they just lie about it.

I had to re-sod my entire front yard three years due to weeds/fungus/bugs/you name it. After that expense, I've been using True Green since and today the St Aug looks great.

This was my experience with them exactly -- only we approved the aerating, etc. There was a slight improvement in getting the grass "greener" but I believe it was mostly because I started using the watering system more. The guys that came onsite to do the spraying were yahoos and we had no fewer weeds when I fired them.

Google centipede decline and do some reading. A lot of good stuff from LSU.
Centipede is a slow growing grass that wants to be left alone. People generally fertilize it too much. It looks great the first year, but most of that will die during the first freeze because it grew quickly and the roots are shallow. You'll be left with dead patches and a lot of weeds the next year.
It could be a soil issue, or maybe one part of your yard gets more sun?

I agree with you about the yahoo part. There never seems to be any consistency on who they send out, a different person each time. The few that I have been able to chat with about my lawn (current issues, problem areas, etc) seem to have little to no knowledge lawn of maintenance. With the amount of money I'm spending annually I know that I can do a better job myself.

I use them in Baton Rouge. They have helped keep the weeds down but I don't think my lawn looks "greener" than my neighbors. The same guy does come out every time, he text me to make sure no dogs will be out. I've had them for two years. Got my free aeration the first year and didnt sign up for it again, I remember it being expensive.

a couple of current photos of my front yard (St. Augustine) where TruGreen has been servicing for 2 years....
Yea, as you can see - I'm not a satisfied customer

Exactly my experience. I dropped them except for mosquito control.
My yard is a huge fluffy wasteland. My little kids sink up to their thighs in freshly cut grass. I need to start all over.

TruGreen Baton Rouge must check out the board. I received a call from them (after I posted the above pictures) that they were going to come out to my house today and spray for weeds for no additional charge lol
