Did Broome's new trash pickup plan already go into effect?

Is anyone else in BR experiencing issues with their trash service?

Can't imagine being a Karen and calling the waste management company to figure out what's going on would solve any issues.

Yes, they are a day late consistently. What is the new plan?

Call 311. it is your only recourse.

Same thing for me. Trash got picked up this past Friday, but the Tuesday pickup did not happen. USUALLY when this happens, a truck will come by on Wednesday so all the houses just leave the can on the street another day. There was no truck yesterday either, so I'm guessing (hoping) that the Friday truck comes. Good times in EBR.

I'm in Magnolia Woods neighborhood FWIW.

Also, I have had an old chair in front of my house for almost two weeks that has yet to be picked up.

Baton Rouge, La. – March 1, 2023 – Garbage collection services for City-Parish are experiencing a surge of out-of-cart woody waste and hand piles. There is usually a gradual increase of woody waste in the late winter and early spring months; however, this year the increase has been more sudden due to the freeze late last year. City-Parish’s garbage contractor has committed to complete each day’s collection routes before proceeding to the next day’s routes. Residents may notice delayed collections in the upcoming weeks. City-Parish inspectors will be working to make sure everything is collected as timely as possible. Residents should report missed garbage collections to 311. Residents can view their out-of-cart trash collection day at https://city.brla.gov/gis/propertylookup.asp

When I lived in Baton Rouge, I called 311 every time they missed. They were close to kicking allied or republic's arse to the curb (or whoever they use) An article said the parish was tracking 311 calls to make a final decision.

Thats one good thing about Ascension Parish. You contract your own trash pick up. The companies do a good job because they know you'll get someone else with the quickness.

ETA: The company my mom uses, Valet Garbage Services, will go and get your trash can if you forget to put it out...

We are in Drusilla Place and usually once a month the Tuesday pickup is a day late, no biggie.

They didn’t come til almost 10am today. Hoping they get tomorrow’s trash.

Diesel is still at $4/ gallon. Those garbage trucks don't get great gas mileage and Republic is probably hurting.

Still got older trucks.

They break.

Instead of putting the trucks down for the right repair, they are splicing them to get going.
They are doing this mid day, so they are running late.

A friend who works at republic said 4 caught on fire at the yard during thanksgiving. Last tech was fixing to leave and saw them on fire. Electrical issue in one truck.

People serviced by RDI or Richard’s it the same issues. Older trucks, cannot put some down for the right fix, and same truck late Monday for a partial fix.

Mix
Down trucks
Less spare trucks and cannot put them down for a proper fix
Same issues will pop up typically on the same days
