I am looking to add a upright freezer for my garage. I have only had chest freezers in the past. Any brands to avoid? We have all GE appliances now and would like to stick with them if possible but I dont see a lot of options.

I have a Costco membership and see a lot of Hisense brand freezers on their site. I am not familiar with that brand.

Not looking for anything huge here. I already have a fridge/freezer out there, I am just looking for a little more freezer space for fish/ice and maybe some frozen bait for my fishing trips.

Maybe something 17cuft.

Its hot as hell here so I know I need a "Garage ready" unit but is there anything else I need to look for / avoid? Like I said, I have only had chest freezers in the past and I dont want to go that route

TIA

Go as big as you can, your going to fill it up. I got the Maytag 20 cu.ft. from Costco using the App. They show online only stuff that the store doesn't have out.

Bought this one a few months ago.

Love it. It's huge though.

We've had one in the garage for a while. The one we have has an exterior digital display of the temp and it also has an alarm function if the door is ajar for a certain amount of time or if it lost power for a certain amount of time. Those features have come in handy.

I went with smaller, cause I wanted drawers. ended up getting 2 of these and love em. - so much easier keeping things in order.

I found a garage ready Maytag on sale at Home Depot for about 700 earlier this month. I’ve been wanting one for a while now so I’m glad I finally purchased one.

I have the upright garage 21.3 ft from GE. Had it 4 years and it works great. I agree that you should go bigger than you need if it will fit in your space. The “extra cost” upfront will be worth it in a bind when you need the space. Our fridge went out a few months back and I had to replace the fan but was able to fit all of the freezer stuff in the upright while the other was repaired.

We shopped the scratch & dent and Home Depot/Lowe's returns until we found one we liked, it's a GE. I don't GAF if it has a dent, just needs to work.

This is the upright freezer I have in the garage. It's been fine. Have a Maytag chest freezer that's getting old now but it's been just fine too. Always prefer to lock my upright to prevent the door from ever opening.

We bought the Frigidaire freezer and fridge set for garage A while back on sale and have been very pleased. Much lower electricity usage than my previous old style freezer

Stick to chest freezers. Uprights spill all the cold air every time opened which stresses the compressor. Chests do not.

I dont want a chest. I have had one in the past. shite gets buried in them. I am going to be putting food, Ice and some frozen bait for fishing in this thing. With the upright, I can keep the bait stuff on the bottom and it will make my wife feel better about it not contaminating the food in there.

I dont see this thing as a everyday thing. I already have a fridge in the garage and we can use the freezer on it for things we use more often. I think the new freezer will be more for storage...
