Weber Grill - Replacement Lid Liner
Posted on 6/15/22 at 8:49 pm

The lid liner (sheet metal heat shield more precisely) on my 11-year-old Weber grill is showing signs of wear. No replacement available short of buying an entire new lid for $400+.
Anyone know a good sheet metal fab shop in BR area that might be able to make a replacement? TIA

I've never seen on with a lid liner.
Genesis?
Genesis?

Yes, Genesis E310. Liner is tucked in lid. Looks like a replacement would be easy to make with a punch and sheet metal brake.

It’ll probably cost close to that to have one fabricated.

I think we both know the smart move here is to start over. Father’s Day is Sunday. Tell them what will make Daddy happy.

FB Marketplace has old Weber's for sale all the time. Some for just a few bucks.
May want to check there is everything else is ok on the grill.

You tried to search that on Amazon? As popular as Weber grills are, there’s boun to be someone making fake parts.

Don’t they have a lifetime warranty on the cook box or is it 10 years?

Think 10 years, but sometimes flexible.
Wouldn't hurt to call them.

My strategy.
Send an email to Weber explaining the issue and asking where you can get the part.
99% of the time they will just send you the replacement. I was missing a part on an original Genesis my grandpa had and they just sent it to me. I am on my second genesis I bought myself, the first one replaced only because it got damaged while moving, it was cosmetic but I grew tired of looking at the dents, the grill itself was in great shape after 10 years of use, the cart was banged up.

I just removed the rusted liner in my 10+ yr old weber .... no issues

Followed your (and armsdealer) suggestion about contacting Weber.
Long story short - a replacement lid is on its way. Grill is just over 10 years old, and they covered it under warranty.
Thanks for the tip!

Off topic:
But my Weber spirit went up in flames from a grease fire. A lot of the interior is disintegrated or chipping off. Igniter wasn’t working prior to that.
Should I see if Weber will help out or would it be chalked up to negligence?
Trying to decide if it’s worth trying to restore or not… would likely need to replace a lot of parts.

Worst they can do is say no.
It helps if you have the grill serial no. (or specific model no.). You will also need the date of purchase, and if you're filing a warranty claim you will have to submit pictures of the damage.
Good luck.

Weber did the same for me on a rusted Spirit lid. I called, and they sent a new one, no questions asked and no need for pics. It helps at times like that if you registered the grill with them when you had the serial and model numbers handy.
The warranty on the shroud and similar parts used to be like 25 years, but I think they knocked it down to 10 or so a few years ago.
