Need a combo heater/AC unit. 400 square feet or so.

Looking at whirlpool but it is licensed to another company I know nothing about.

Does GE make a good unit? I don't recognize the other names .

XLS products is the company that makes window units and humidifiers for Whirlpool, I believe. US based company. I think the main knock against their window unit is noise. But the Whirlpools are highly rated, though I think LG usually has higher rated models.

I keep running across one made by a company called Midea. It has a strikingly different design where the window closes almost completely between the indoor and outdoor section. Looks intriguing but would be a leap of faith for me because I do not know anything about this company.

The installation is a pain in the arse on midea.

I'm not crazy about LG on anything.

I have rental units with window ac and Whirlpools are the best I've found. They are more quiet, cool well and have lasted much longer than other brands.

I have a Toshiba unit for my shop, no issues with it.

Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire

The Midea U-shape window fit is a PIA to install. If you don't have double hung windows don't buy it.

I don’t know anything about the heating option, but for 400 square feet I’d go with Frigidaire and wouldn’t look back.
