I've got yellow traffic sign, which is very close to LSU gold, and I will need to paint the pole & base (a hack job from the previous owner, not OEM) that supports it, so I figure I might as well do it in LSU purple. I'd prefer something I could get a a Wal-Mart or even Amazon. It's going to go directly onto steel (probably stainless, or perhaps zinc, but not galvenized).

An interesting fact I read a few years back is that LSU uses the same exact helmet shell as the Green Bay Packers. As I recall, its named after Green Bay. Before I read that, I wouldn't have thought that the LSU helmet was the same shade of yellow as the GB helmet. I believe the green in the GB helmet and the purple in the LSU helmets just makes them appear to be a different shade.

OK, I've decided to go down a similar path and have the item painted in Mardi Gras colors of the standard 3 of gold, green & purple (which we all know is the reason why LSU & Tulane have the colors that they have, as those colors were easily available for the 1st ever game for both schools) and also the somewhat unknown red; this allows it to have the colors of LSU and the traffic light. The purple will be the base quad, the pipe flanges for the pole will be red, and the pipe pole will be green.

$40 for a can of spray paint is bit too high.

I'm thinking of these:

The Grape is just about perfect, but possibly a bit too desaturated. The Purple looks too dark.
