What’s the current average price per square foot to build a house in the Baton Rouge area?

I know the lumber price has jacked up the overall cost, but how much.
I know a lot of variables go into the average cost, but what is a rough estimate to look for right now for a reputable builder?

Dude, you gotta give us something more than that. Price range you're looking to spend, neighborhood, what? CCL/Willow Grove/U Club type house? DSLD/Level type house?

Ive had several builders tell me that the prices have gone up $5/sqft since lumber price increase.
And, to follow the post above, a new house in UC would be around $230-$270 sqft. Maybe more depending on amenities.

It would be built on acreage in rural part of the parish. So no subdivision or homeowner association restrictions
Exterior would be simple roof lines, no stucco. Farm house style house with wrap around porch on concrete slab. 4 bedroom, 2 baths. 2200 to 2500 square feet of living area.

Have you looked into barndominiums?

I am currently having a house built right now on acreage that is not in a subdivision which is 2400sq ft living.. without cost of the lot, dirt pad, water, gas, electricity..etc.. just the house itself, I am at $117 per sq ft.
After everything above is added, I am at $163

I would guess, that you're looking at between $110 - $140 a square foot for just the build, depending on the level of your finishes.

What parish are you building and what builder are you using?

I have also found that many high end builders don’t talk “per living sq. Ft” any more. They go by under beam because everyone wants huge porches with pavers, outdoor kitchens, fancy ceilings, finished AC garages etc. high end in Covington/Mandeville is about $175 a foot under beam. Land not included.

Washington Parish contractors are between $70-$90 per square foot right now.
