Live on the Alabama Gulf Coast. When should I bring in a potted key lime tree? Hasn't dropped below freezing yet, but hovered at 35 the past two nights.
Thanks.
Thanks.

the answer is always when there is a freeze, but i bring things in anytime it gets below 40, i do that because the cold makes them stop growing and go dormant, which you dont want.

I bring mine in below 40 degrees. It is an absolutely thriving and prolific tree and I attribute a lot of that to keeping it warm and with plenty of light in the winter.

quote:tough as hell to keep one going up here in TN (we had 3 days of -1 degree temps last winter) but this year i put it in a shady spot near the pool where it got a ton of sunlight in the morning then in the shade from the afternoon sun and it THRIVED. i've never had so many fat juicy limes in my life and they just keep coming.

Yep, mine sits by the pool too. They love the heat and extra humidity. Plus I can pluck one from the water and squeeze it into my rum drink.
