A friend of mine just closed on a new construction house on the MS gulf coast. They are wanting a wood fence installed to keep their dogs close. He’s told me that it’s about 300’ of fence and he’s gotten quotes anywhere from $5800-7000. So roughly $19-24/ft. Is that the going rate these days? I know lumber is pretty high right now. Thanks for your input.

I just paid $35 per foot for 8 foot high horizontal fence with 1x4 as boards.

I did a privacy fence a year ago and it would cost me about 50% more to do it niw compared to when I did.

Wood is so high right now. I just finished the side yard fence and compared my invoices from another part of a fence I did 2 1/2 years ago. 4x4 have doubled in price and 6 ft fence boards are almost 50 cents more a board. It adds up quickly. Sorry can't help with labor prices.

I'm not an expert but that sounds cheap to me.

Just wait a few more weeks, you may be able to build it out of gold cheaper than wood

That sounds cheap. Over the course of the past 2 months, I have bought and built 375' of privacy fence including 100' at 8' with 4 rails. The remainder at 6' and 3 rails.

I just crunched the numbers and after ordering my stainless nails for the nail gun, excess string...etc. My materials came in at $4,415.15

I have about 60 pickets to return to Picou Lumber tomorrow.

Every wood fence I’ve seen in the MS coast was blown down by the last hurricane. I’m going back with wire.

Rates in Houston are 40-50/sqft. It's outrageous. The guy I talked to does great work though.

I just finished rebuilding my fence from Laura. 335 ft 6ft TP came out to $3500. That included buying air tank, post hole digger, renting auger, etc.

It wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be either. Prices around here are $25-$35/ft so I saved at least half by doing it myself.
