Workstation sinks? Fad or useful?

Trying to decide on a kitchen sink. The idea of a cutting board that can be readily washed off without getting the counter wet seems handy. Drying rack could be useful too.
The extra lip might be a pain to clean though. Also seems like you'd lose a bit of space because of the lip. Anyone have one and like it? This will be a 33" sink.

try to find one without the deep 90 degree corners in the bottom of the sink. could be hell trying to clean them up if food gets there

I love having our sink in the island. I chop veg over there and it is nice to be able to just wipe everything down into it. Also, we have one of those big farmhouse sinks and I am thawing out meat or such I can just put it in the smaller prep sink

That looks like a bunch of shite that would annoy the frick out of me and would end up permanently removed and in a cabinet within a few months.
Looking at the picture:
Why are those apples just chilling there? If ya gonna wash them, wash them and put them away. Why is there a step where they just drain there?
Good luck with that rolling pin and 2 inches of space. What am I, a toddler?

I could absolutely use those things. Yeah, nobody’s rolling dough over the sink but that would be practical to just cut then rinse. Drying rack as well if you need room. Washing vegetables in that colander would be useful too.
The key is to have a dedicated space to store those items and make them convenient to grab, use, clean, and store.
Also, I have a very similar sink without the slots for workstation stuff, no issues with the tight corners.

I have a similar sink with a middle drain. The metal grate in the bottom is nice but food that gets stuck on the sink just stays there and it's a mild aggravation having to pull the grate out to clean the sink. If you don't pull it, the food just sloshes from side to side without ever going down the hole. I like the sink, but I just use it as a sink instead of what it was designed for. Just more hassle than it's worth IMO.
I also have the sharper 90 degree corners and it's not an issue cleaning. Sinks are required to have rounded everything to discourage bacteria growing in a straight 90 degree corner.

Useful. Most of my clients use the Ruvanti ( budget friendly) . From observations, the drying rack is used the most and they throw the components in dishwasher. My non workstation clients always seem to have a drying mat or rack. The ledge doesn’t seem like a PiA to clean if you are already cleaning the undermount lip. Make sure ur new faucet can reach the bottom of basin, most don’t even clear the handle!
I highly recommend Koehler Prolific if it’s within your budget. LCR in BR has it on display. Seeing it in person debunked any concerns on workstations.
