What brand / model would you buy to keep up with 1 acre. Mostly flat level ground, nothing difficult
Im not going to cut an acre with a walk behind.

Big Dog Alpha MP, bought one about 2 years ago from K&D. No problems, like everything about the mower.

Hustler Raptor with a 48" deck. I'm running a 54" deck on 2 acres.

All depends on price range.
For 1 acre, just about any above a box store model will be fine. Higher end models will likely last longer, but you really don’t need anything major.
I’ve always recommended Hustler or Gravely. Scag is great but likely more than you need, even their residential model. You could likely look at the electric models if you’d like to go that route, but knowing it may cost more than a similar gas model.

I have the same question. Is there one with a smaller deck so I can get closer to the corners of my hurricane fence and through a narrow gate?

I'm looking for the same thing. Currently have and old Gravely 42" zero turn, that still works fine, but lacking a little power and time to upgrade. I'm still looking for a 42" mower as I have a small gate to go through. So far my choice is the Hustler Raptor X. Gonna do a little more research though.

I might be a little biased, but I’d probably recommend the one I just bought 2 days ago.

Nice! in 2004 I bought a heavy duty residential Gravely and mowed 4 acres with it. I mowed with it for 10 years and never did anything but routine maintenance and changed the belts twice, and I'm sure the battery. No issues whatsoever.

Same! I upgraded my old Gravely ZT42 to a ZTHD48 last summer. Big difference and way overkill for my 1 acre yard! That unit is a beast and my cut time is around 25 minutes now, lol!
I looked up the price and it is almost $1300 more than last year when I purchased. Crazy. My next choice was a Scag Liberty Z.

I just bought a hustler raptor xd 48 with 22 hp Kawasaki. Cuts great and the mulching kit does a great job. If you are in Baton Rouge area highly recommend Gautreaux Outdoor power
Had the same motor on a 12 year old bad boy mower never had any problems

I wanted the 48, but they didn’t have any in stock. Told me they’ve had them in order for months and didn’t know when they’d come in. So I went with the 52. Yeah this thing is a beast. I previously had a 2013 ZT50.

I have the Hustler Raptor with 48” deck, I mow 1 acre, 5 years old no issues, but at some point I’m going to go with electric zero turn.

Do not buy a zero turn with less than 3 blades. 2 blades just do not provide a nice cut lawn.

I just bought a hustler raptor 42 with kaw from Gautreaux’s and absolutely love it. I have an acre as well. Takes me about 30 minutes to cut. It only has two blades and cuts fine in my opinion. Not sure what your budget is but mine was $4k including mulching kit and taxes (out the door). 48 shouldn’t be too much more but they didn’t have them in stock when I purchased in November of last year. Plus I like to get thru the gate I have.

That Gravely looks exactly like Ariens Ikon

Always easier to learn from others than have to do all of the research by yourself.

Deck size decide how much stuff you are mowing around.
-getting in gates
- getting around trees or potted plants etc
- Where are you storing it
Pretty much most entry level brands will do the job fine.

Make sure you have a solid deck. Ariens/Gravely has great ones. The Kawasaki engines in the Ariens are A+
