In a year where LSU needed to fill some holes they have done a very good job so far. Ranking high or low in the transfer team rankings really doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is your roster holes are getting backfilled with the best available talent.
There will be some years where the LSU transfer portal rankings will suck but they will suck because there are just relatively fewer roster holes to fill than more desperate teams. This year LSU has had a lot of holes to fill and so far has done a very good job.

I’m skeptical.
Texas, Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State, and Notre Dame aren’t in the top ten.

Think of what all those teams have in common and work backwards to take a guess as to why they might not have a ton of transfers yet

Spot on. We don't want to lead in the portal rankings most years because we hope to have few holes. It is excellent timing that we do this year. There is a reason the top playoff teams are not on this list.

Is this directed to my post? I think you vastly misunderstood what I was saying if so.
Teams in the playoffs are going to be lower in the number of total transfers (and I’m talking about transfers for NEXT year), because they have less open spots for one thing (less players entering the portal immediately) and less roster turnover because of the teams success and resources retain the talent that clearly is working (bc it got them to the playoffs)
I’m not saying teams are in the playoffs because they don’t use transfers, that’s silly. I’m simply explaining why those teams would be lower in the rankings in the OP despite seeming like the obvious teams to be at the top of the rankings
Once those teams lose or the seasons over I imagine they’ll rise in the rankings as they have their own guys transfer out and other roster attrition

And the guy who returned the kick for a TD last week - portal transfer from Marshall.

Texas is the new money in that list. They just recently got rich with good players. By buying them , of course. The other teams on the list have been rich with good players and didn't need many transfers.
