On3 vs rivals vs 24/7

I love to see the competition between recruiting companies and how they rank against each other given they were all founded by the same person. Curious to see if On3 starts giving out bama bumps regularly. What’s y’alls favorite recruiting site?

Personally, I like 247 the most. The composite rankings drew me in a couple of years ago. I also think the writers that cover LSU do an excellent job.

247 has consitently been the best, but I do think on3 will take over that crown. They've got some great features on their website.
That said, rivals usually covers LA guys the best. They do sound like they're personally advcocating for kids more than Shea or Billy though, likely because Jimmy coaches the majority of teh kids with the bootleggers and Julie seems to form really strong relationships with the recruits.

Shea is the most personable.
Jimmy is a good guy; seems like he delegates to a solid, large staff.
Nationally, Huffman and Biggjns are great talent evaluatiors but mostly West Coast oriented.
Wiltfong keeps 247 top notch, but on3 landed the hardest working national guy in Chad Simmons. He is based in the south.
247 lost a sharp Texas talent evaluator when Greg Powers went to Dave Campbell’s.
Sam Spiegelman has made Rivals great again. He went from an independent site to regional analyst to national analyst in only a few years.
Jerit Roser keeps him informed on what’s happening in Louisiana.

Do you see On3 overtaking both soon? If you had to subscribe to one, which one is it?
Posted on 1/16/22 at 12:32 pm to HotTakes
I see them all staying in power. On3 needs more than Chad Simmons to be the top dog.
When I check a player’s rankings, I look at all three sites.
I would subscribe to Rivals and 247.

I had subscriptions to both 24/7 & Tigerdetails this season & was left wanting for more. I guess I was looking for more insider info, and honestly both have turned into more article-based platforms.
Shea is the best of the bunch, comprehensively.
Julie at TDetails had the best info on who was visiting, I found.
Jimmy does not have a huge presence on the site as I had hoped. with all the Bootleggers being recruited this cycle, I had thought he would be the guy

Another feature I noticed on3 started was NIL deals where you can see how much a player is potentially making. Ex. Bryce Young is assumed to be making near 1.8 mil

24/7 isn’t what it was, but I’ll ALWAYS appreciate Sonny slinging me free subscription after I lost my job years ago. He even had some contacts and got my resume out there when we considered relocating to The Boot.
Julie, Sam, and Jimmy do an outstanding job on Rivals. They’re more of a positive than Mile F. is a negative. As others have said regarding Julie B. with interviews and Sam on scouting they do great!
On3 composite or whatever they call is is balanced and each site ranking is weighted evenly at 25% each. They had a great promo last I saw: $10 for a year or $1 for 4 months.
Each of those 3 have something going for em. ESPN doesn’t.

Different services seem to do certain regions or positions better so they each have their strengths and weaknesses.
For On3 or anyone else to take over for 24/7 as the defacto all around best service, they will need to create some sort of composite ranking that maybe takes some of those nuances into account (not sure that is really doable, tbh). Otherwise, the composite ranking that 24/7 puts out will always be top dog IMO.

Super nice of the guy to do that. Hoping the recruiting sites don’t give out artificial bumps. That taints the true ratings.

Agree 100%

Agree with about all of this.
247's dropoff seems to line with 2 things, Lucky(founder of all 3 coincidentally) completely sold out and left, Barton Simmons taking over.
The Lucky part is par for the course according to his business model. He creates, builds and sells to the highest bidder. Don't expect any changes in the "Bama bump" if he's involved.(if you believe it's scandalous and unethical)
The Barton part was surprising. He was great as a regional, field guy. Obviously not equipped to handle the whole network. Nationally, Wiltfong is their savior. Without him 247 would be purely team site generated. Similar to Rivals as long as Farrell is in charge.
As for LSU specific its gonna be interesting. Sonny/Shea will always have their guys. They've earned that with their graciousness and veteran status. Problem is that they really don't have any groundbreaking info(their sources either lie, are gullible or not tuned in really; Emily Dixon gets a pass of course) and both are too gunshy to go out on a ledge. Blame 5-5.
Rivals is the best in the trenches and for exposure to LA kids. Jimmy's personality isn't always for my taste but the guy works hard and means well I think. May not be a better "on the ground" guy in terms of sources within LA hs/7 on 7 circuits.
Not really been on On3 much so can't speak for them. I guess Billy took that one. Not sure there's much difference in terms of info from 247. If so, where was it there? Think we just have had bad, bad insiders since Saban left. The Miles/Orgeron stints seemed like 1 big clusterfrick of outdated, wrong information. If a kid chose us it seemed to be as big a surprise to them as us. Not how that's supposed to work

This. When I first subscribed to paysites there was solid inside info on there, even tho it sometimes ended up wrong. Now, these sites are the last to report news and report 0 inside info. Most of their sources are players and recruits so they are constantly churning sources and feel like they can’t give out any of their inside info because it would become personal. It’s understandable, but bad for business. Shea admitted a while back that the site was going to be focused around delivering accurate news and being a central location for it. Personally, that’s not what I want to pay for. I’m hoping On3 is a little more loose with info and isn’t so scared to let stuff out. I think if they do that, they will pull ahead the pack.

I had 247 for years and dropped them for Rivals who I prefer...

Believe they to all be about the same once On3 gets full speed; difference for me is getting a Paramount+ subscription with 247.
Posted on 1/16/22 at 5:13 pm to chicageaux_tiger
If you have Paramount+ already do you get 247?

The portal is great for these businesses.
Now there is legitimate news all year, not only with recruiting, but with transfers.

I'm an O.G, so it has always been Rivals for me.
