LSU WILL LAND FIVE-STAR CORNERBACK HAVON FINNEY, JR.
HAVON FINNEY JR.
6.1 RATING
6'3"|170 LBS|CB
SIERRA CANYON
CHATSWORTH, CA
CLASS OF 2026
UNDECIDED
Elite cornerback Havon Finney reclassified into the 2026 cycle at the start of the spring. The five-star standout has long had LSU entrenched in his lead group and that has continued after a string of spring visits, including a return to Baton Rouge for the Tigers' spring game.
The top cornerback on LSU's board is trending toward the Bayou Bengals – and I feel confident submitting this FutureCast in at this stage in the process.
PARKER LIVINGSTON EMERGES AS ARCH MANNING'S TOP TARGET
Arch Manning has commanded a lot of the attention around Texas this spring. He's undoubtedly going to spark the Longhorns' offense and we're betting that Parker Livingston will emerge as Manning's top target.
Buzz around Austin has centered around Livingston, who impressed in scout team duties and in practice throughout the season and is having a breakout spring, according to sources. Livingston is our pick as a breakout receiver for Texas.
OHIO STATE WILL WIN OUT FOR PJ DEAN
Georgia, South Carolina and Ohio State have emerged as finalists for four-star lineman PJ Dean. He was in Columbus for the program's spring game over the weekend and the Buckeyes took a major step forward with the top 2026 target. After his visit to the Horseshoe, I logged a prediction for Ohio State to win out in this one.

Tell me Coach Corey being released the first time wasn't one of the biggest mistakes right along with letting Coach Baker go!

He kept threatening to go to atm, fl, tx, etx almost annually. And he was whiffing on a ton of top targets the last few years, and our secondary had no depth and lacked bc of it. I think it was good for both to part ways. Perspective and change of scenery alot of times makes you realize what you had, and what's home. Florida was happy to see him go, and we got him for a reasonable rate, at least for top 15 programs is concerned. Seems like he's killing it since he's been back, and really hope we get back to having dudes littered all over the secondary with nfl in their future. Great news hearing traction He has with this young 5 star.

I'll eat my crow on Corey Raymond. Didn't think hiring him for the 2nd go round was a good idea, but looks like he's doing well so far.

How do you know this as a fact?... because you read it on a message board? He was arguably the best DB coach in the country. Yes, teams are going to try to pry him away. Thats the nature of the business.

Post Natty He signed
Eli Ricks (5 Star)
Sage Ryan (5 Star)
Derrick Davis (Top 5 Safety)
Jordan Toles (Top 5 Safety)
D. McGhee (4 Star)
McGlothern (4 Star)
The 2020 and 2021 in-state CB recruits were bad. Look it up.
Recruiting was shutdown in 2020 for the rising 2021 class. LSU was a sinking ship with Orgeron in 2021.
Stop making up excuses... Raymond shouldve been retained.

It was huge. But I got killed on here for saying Kerry cooks was shite and Raymond shouldn't have been fired.
Set the secondary back years.

Not gonna argue the semantics of his contracts since he was for years the lowest paid member of the staff. I'll never begrudge a man trying to earn his worth. Towards the end his flirtations did become yearly.
His recruiting has always been good to excellent. As for your list, i'll let their career contributions as a whole speak for them.
And therein lies the part the Raymond knighters always seem to leave out and rarely bring up. His coaching. It is the reason he wasn't retained and why UF was not disappointed to see him go. His coaching has regressed. Last year was no resume builder for Raymond. We sucked in coverage. But he does get that first year grace. This year is the test.

fanva, I think you hit the nail on the head. However, Corey was coaching some chickenshit talent last year, so can't make chicken salad. We'll see this year and next as he'll have some real talent to coach.

Hindsight doesn’t always tell you everything.
It may be easy to say that, but Raymond had slipped a notch in recruiting and he didn’t seem very happy here. His room also had a lot of discipline issues, and that really didn’t help his case. I think the time apart showed both parties that it was in everyone’s best interest for Raymond to be back here, but who knows if he would have been this motivated just keeping his old job and not seeing that the grass really wasn’t greener elsewhere. That time away seems to have lit a fire under Raymond, because this is the way he was recruiting early in his career under Miles.
As for Baker, there was no way a new coach could have promoted him to DC. He was coming off being Manny Diaz’s scapegoat in Miami, but no matter who was at fault, he was the DC of a bad defense and got fired. He was great as an LB coach here in 21, but if he had been retained by BK, it would been as that and not as the DC. I think it worked out much better that he left and showed he could be a great SEC DC in the right situation.

Out of all of those guys: Ricks had a few good games, Mcglotheran had a few good ones the rest were total busts. He got 5stars who fizzled out or were not coached up.

How many of those turned into anything? 2 of the 6?
Isn’t part of the job evaluating talent?
