Did he go on to do well at La Tech?

Not from what I read about him in his bio and doesn't really count cause La Tech was in a downward spiral during those years..........but still shocking .........

I think we signed Korte that year and Antonio Robinson and Trindon.

Here are some stats from his LA Tech career. Did a respectable job, but wasn't a world beater.

He went on to a good but not spectacular career at Tech:

Freshmah - 88 carries, 367 yards, 4.2 avg, 6 TDs, 9 catches, 55 yards

Sophomore - 170 carries, 864 yards, 5.0 avg, 7 TDs, 22 catches, 181 yards, 1 TD

Junior - 202 carries, 950 yards, 4.7 avg, 8 TDs, 31 catches, 227 yards, 1 TD

Senior - 143 carries, 653 yards, 4.6 avg, 8 TDs, 16 catches, 196 yards, 3 TDs

He suffered from a few bouts with injuries during his time at Tech. And like force said, he was at Tech during a tough time (no offense, coaching change, etc). Still, he was a weapon running and catching the ball out of the backfield and scored 34 TDs.

I take back overall TD mark though......

Rushing Tds @ 52
and Rushing yards @ 3013 sound like tops in state

but Ridge Turner had 69s in 1 season in 1A........

who did LSU sign in 05 for running backs?

RJ Jackson, Antonio Robinson. Trindon was in the class but I doubt we considered him a RB at the time.

Of course, with Alley, Justin, and Hester are either Soph or Junior at the time, RB wasn't a huge need to recruit either. We didn't know then Broussard and Vincent would flame out quite like they would.

that is insane. 414 pts. would be a school record for the majority of teams.

'05 was a numbers crunch year and I think Antonio Robinson was our main RB of the class. Jackson was the number 20 prospect in the State according to Rivals. I remember Les having to come in and salvage what he could from that class with RP and Al Jones.

So in that year of 2004 football they had a guy rush for 3013 yards and 52 tds......Jackson

and another guy score 67 Tds running and passing..........Perilloux

another guy go on to win the NCAA championship in the 100m..........Holliday

And they were a mere 80 miles apart along the Mississippi..........

Pretty Amazing.

Puts LA talent in perspective...........and only makes me get even more excited about 2011 class because this group has RBs, WRs, Athletes, and beastly OL and DL..........

Byron Robertson did hold some kind of record when he left St. Thomas. Career TDs maybe? I remember all these idiots in our area going crazy over him and wondering why LSU wasn't recruiting him.

Someone guessed Darren Brister, ofcourse he was good and I'm far from an Indy football guru, but I'm wondering where he would even rank when stacked up against their other great backs. They had a pretty ridiculous run of RBs there for about 15 years.

Toe was a good one.

The answer was a guy that flew under the radar with only an offer from Old Miss...I remember Brister had some good years and went on to ULL.

If I remember correctly he committed to Tech early. Said he liked them from day 1.

Independence had a stretch in the 90's when they had Joe Harris, Darren Brister, and LaBrandon Toefield. Harris might have been the best that nobody remembers because he got hurt in the playoffs his senior year and never made it to college.

I was gonna say Patrick Jackson. I remember watching him play. He was as good as any high school running back I ever saw in person. He averaged around 10 yards a carry. He was tough and strong but not really a big kid. Saban tried to get him on TOPS and maybe some academic type help. He is a great person.

I believe there was a good back just before Harris, and I also think there was a year or two gap between Harris' senior year and when Brister took over as a soph or junior where they had a back that put up big numbers (even though he wasn't on the level of the other three). I agree on Harris and.....

You talking about relatively recently? Stephen James graduated in 2001 and was sort of an anomaly.

He was a decent back until he hit district, which is when he became a stat machine.

I terrorized central running for 199 and 3 TDs his junior year then 389 and 7 tds his senior year. He would hit district and run for 200 yards and 3 or 4 tds every game. It was crazy.

I played with him for two years, and he was an anti athlete. He was fast, strong, but not terribly big. Maybe 5'10" 180. He had forearms and calfs like popeye though, and we often called him popeye.

He was a country boy through and through and preferred working every summer over working out. We had to constantly scold him for smoking cigarettes when he ran out of dip. Even on gamedays he would light up and smoke a few while waiting on time to pass before he had to be back at school to get dressed and get on a bus

I'm not saying that disrespectfully at all. I remember that game against Cecilia like it was yesterday. I was a 7th grader at the time. Harris was a one-man show, one of the best HS RBs I've ever seen. When he got hurt Indy was up 14-0. Cecilia went on to win 42-14. It's safe to say that Harris getting injured cost Indy a chance to get to the dome that year. I wish Harris would have come back and went on to play college ball, because he could have been something special.

Here's the list of career records, except for career rushing TD's, which is held by Byron Robertson (the kid from St. Thomas Aquinas). I think he had somewhere around 120 career TD's or something ridiculous like that. I think he broke Cecil Collins' career record, which was 99.

Kenny Hilliard is only about 1,300 yards away from breaking Germaine Williams record.
