Were officially drafted. The very first time that 4 OL from the same draft class were all drafted.

I've said if for months now that this was the best OL in LSU history and the draft would prove it, and now it has.

I'm not being the Debby downer you all think, but I'm highly suggesting you guys temper expectations for next years OL. It will be incredibly hard to meet the same expectations that this OL just met before the injuries.

That goes even more for Nuss. Stop putting the pressures of Heisman out there for him, because those expectations aren't reality with the combination of new OL and WRs.

Just goes to show how the “best OL” had talent but couldn’t run block so does that fall back on coaching or ?
Brad is a good recruiter but can he coach them up…this is his year to prove it! If the OL doesn’t gel and play as a unit for both Pass/run block Nuss will really struggle as will the team.

Or, did we just not run the ball enough?

Just was a post on here about rushing attempts. LSU had almost 200 less rushing attempts than the top rushing teams. LSU averaged 4.1 yards a carry. Texas had 4.4. Think 200 more carries would have helped our average out? I do.

Terrible scheme. We ran the ball out of shotgun 99% of the time. Without a duel threat in the backfield this doesn't work

Sloan and Chester were the weak links.

Chester won't get drafted and Sloan is a joke of an OC.

Agreed. Schematically we were not putting our run game in the best position to succeed.

and we all recall Nuss, the Heisman front runner this season, running for his life often last season.

Is the OL coach the problem? We knew the talent was there

Chester wasn't as bad as this board makes him out to be.

Chester must be doing something right considering he's managed to hold off Echols and Moore for the starting job during Spring.

All it has proved is that this is the best LSU O-line in which 4 O-linemen were in the same draft class. Not that it was the best ever.

That's not a knock on the O-line, simply that the current draft eligibility, red shirt and/or COVID rules meant that could happen.

The starting O-line in 2019 was Lloyd Cushenberry, Saahdiq Charles, Austin Deculus, Adrian Magee, and Damien Lewis. All but Magee were drafted, just not in the same year, and I think those 4 are all still on NFL rosters.

Again, not a knock on the O-line last season, just that 4 of them being drafted the same year does not prove anything regarding the best O-line at LSU.

Go watch 3-4, games and pause it at 2-3, spots in each run play. It will blow you away how well blocked up most of our run plays are... because I used to think the same thing. Vision from the rbs has been horrible, besides durham. Then suddenly it felt like there was all this space. Jackson and Williams run into tackles almost every play. Oline was much better run blocking then we give credit for

If Les Miles would have been the head coach for this OL, last year would have been one of the best running teams in LSU history. Talent we had on the OL was wasted last season.

Majority of our fans repeat what they read in here, and never rewatch games or understand film breakdown.

The real problem was one of those four (Dellinger) got injured and his replacement was not very good, and he played right next to the weakest link of the starting five. I don't think it's a coincidence that Nuss played his worst stretch of football after Dellinger was injured and Chester and Mubenga struggled. That and some of the play calling was predictable. Like calling a stretch run out of the pistol so many times the Florida LBs were making a stretching motion with their hands pre-snap.

Not buying that “couldn’t run the ball”. LSU had shitty RBs last year. Durham got better and that’s it.

He didn’t hold off Moore. Guy just got to campus and Kelly was giving guys that have been in the program a chance at success. I don’t see anyway that Chester is our starting C come the Clemson game.
