All of LSUs national championship appearances were preceded by BCS/NY6 bowls.

Fiesta Bowl vs UCF in 2018.

Cotton Bowl vs Texas in '02.

Sugar Bowl vs ND in '06.

Cotton Bowl vs A&M in 2010.

Multiple citrus, Texas, outback , and music city bowls scattered in between them.

My point is, kick back and relax.

While it seems like we are stuck in neutral, even in the golden age, we had these lulls in between greatness.

If Nuss returns, I think we'll make that "year before" NY6 game in the playoff.

2026 I think is the year LSU makes its run.

Also for some reason the natties have come in 4s

Its purely coincidental but still awesome. Even 2011-2019 was 8 years apart. Pretty wild.

LSU has appeared in the last 4 title games in New Orleans, have not played for a natty anywhere else.

So when is the next time the natty is in NOLA?

in that case our next best chance is 2027. another 8 year wait!

coulda done it after 4 years again if he had gotten the #1 O in the land a defense in 2023!

UCF in the Fiesta is kind of weak (although correctly stated).

I meaning, beating UCF was not something that I would have thought would be a springboard prior to that amazing 2019 season.

This is a lie. The Cotton Bowl in 2002 was not BCS and not a major bowl.

NY6 bowl games didn’t exist in ‘02 or ‘10 (both Cotton Bowls)

The Cotton Bowl has always been a major bowl. That’s why it’s one of the ones in the CFP rotation.

What you talking about Willis? At the time of the fiesta bowl, UCF had won 25 games in a row and were defending "National Champions" per their fan base. We ended that 25 game win streak.

It used to be a major bowl when it housed the SWC champion and again became a major bowl when it moved to Jerry World and they instituted the playoffs / NY6 concept.

It was not a BCS game because it lost its luster after the SWC died and it was still played in the awful Cotton Bowl. Big 12 champion was not tied to the Cotton Bowl in the BCS era. It was a very good, but not a major bowl in 2002.

I guess if you just want to talk about the BCS/CFP era. But the year before the 1958 championship, LSU went 5-5 and finished 7th in the SEC.
