Any explanation why Tenn didn’t have to make a pitching change due to second mound visit?

It was as if the umpire “saved” Vitello.

Supposedly since Jay initiated the offensive TO, Vitello gets a visit (never heard that rule and apparently nether has Jay)
Nevermind that the TO was over before CTV left the dugout
Nevermind that the 2B ump ran up to CTV to warn him. Once you cross the foul line it's sup to be a visit
We got hosed but Busch league shite like that is what Vawl Baseball is all ab
Tonight is gonna be electric

Because the umps really really sucked. Just absurd situation. But he probably would have brought in a lefty and that would not have been good either

Tennessee gets a free visit when Jay initiates one. But Vitello came out late when Larson got in the box. I think the ump did the right thing to explain to him it wasn’t a free visit if he stayed.

That's very generous of the ump, Les. Not his job to explain that to CTV.

Pretty much nailed it. Vitello is allowed to take a free visit during the offensive timeout if he wants, but he waited until the last second to try and do it. Thats Busch league horseshite which is right in line with him as a coach.
I think the 2B ump came in to tell him this wouldn’t be a free visit because the TO was over so Vitello turned and went back.
Again, Vitello playing games and should have been popped for it.

My personal opinion is that Vitello came out trying to “steal” a mound visit during our offensive timeout, but he was a little too late. Once the 2nd base ump saw it he basically said “too late you gotta go back”. I don’t think Jay had much of a problem with it, if he did he would’ve made a bigger deal out of it.

What is the rule on how long you get a “free” mound visit when the offense takes a TO?

I would guess as long as the offensive meeting is going. Issue is Vitello didn’t even come out of the dugout until Larson was back in the circle and ready to go.

I could see that. Would have to see the rule. It may not specify it could be discretionary to the umpire

If an offensive timeout is called, the defensive team can visit as well. Just like any other sport.
Where I’m confused is why TF they allowed it to happen AFTER the offensive timeout was concluded. At that point, it should’ve been a mound visit and Tenn should’ve had to change pitchers being it was the second visit of the inning for that pitcher.

Could have sworn they showed the pitching coach go out during the offensive timeout. Then vitello tried to come back out after the timeout was over.

The pitching coach came out earlier in the inning

What does he really get out of acting like that? I’ve never understood why some coaches like to troll the game.

If that had been the case, he could have done it without repercussion since the visit during the timeout does not count as a mound visit.

Because umpires are stupid.

We won the game, so we didn’t get hosed. If he has to change pitchers there, maybe it doesn’t turn out the same.
But it would have been Busch league to have demanded he get charged with a visit there and make a change. Jay calls more offensive timeouts in a weekend than I think I’ve seen in just about all the baseball games I’ve ever seen put together.

Ump probably noticed Tenn didn’t have anybody warming up.

But they did. 7 was ready. Jay explained it in post game interview. Umps were correct. Jays only issue was how long it took for them to conclude the correct ruling.

Trying to get inside the opponents’ heads.
For some people, the game is a mindfrick.
