How is it that a player out of high school who is 17 or 18 years old can be drafted, but once you enter college, you have to become a certain age before you can enter the draft?

It's the current rules in place. Don't advocate to change it. The NCAA is already screwing everything else up.

Yes. Just asking. Doesn’t make sense.

If you go Juco, you can be a one and done.

It's not an NCAA rule. It's a MLB rule.

To quote Winston Scott - "Rules. Without them, we live with the animals".

Makes sense that a good rule doesn’t come from the NCAA.

The rules of when you can enter the NFL draft and NBA draft are respectfully NFL & NBA rules. The NCAA has nothing to do with them.

They are collective bargaining agreements between the leagues and the player unions.

Id like to believe John Wick penned that quote too but it was Socrates.

"without rules we are nothing but animals".

Because otherwise it would be mayhem. Anyone that wants to be eligible every year can go Juco like Bryce Harper chose.

Or you can go the JUCO route and you are eligible every June. Back in the day there was a January draft in addition to the June draft. It was for HS graduates not currently enrolled, JUCO players or D-1 players who dropped out. I played in HS and JC with a guy that wasn't drafted out of HS but was drafted 4 times in JC and after his Jr. year at UNO before he eventually signed.
