Best Hotel to stay at for a football weekend?

Coming in town next November and looking for a hotel that will be close enough to Tiger Stadium and the bars. I tried using the search function but it only lists results within the last 15 days.
What are some good suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Umm, won't be close to the bars but Lod Cook is always solid, but I'll bet it's booked solid for the fall.
You really can't have the best of both worlds with the stadium and bars, there really aren't too many hotels in that area.
ETA: Let me correct myself, there really aren't any hotels close to the stadium. Or unless that Staybridge is open on Nicholson

Only hotel within walking distance..besides Lod Cook is the Staybridge Suites.

Lod Cook is the way to go. Get to see all the players and eat breakfast with the coaches and recruits Sunday morning too.
I hear some of the hotels downtown offer transportation to and from the stadium but I have heard nightmare stories of people being stranded.

If you can arrange a ride/cab/shuttle to and from the game, stay at the Hilton downtown. You can walk to the downtown bars from there.

Lod Cook and Staybridge are tops, but the hardest to get into. Renaissance on Bluebonnet is a good bet as well, probably easier to get into during football season.

This is true. The Indigo? Is that right? Staybridge is a great location on Nicholson. I'd stay downtown, better bar scene so try the Indigo.

If you are older than 25 stay dowtown at Hilton or Hotel Indego and catch a shuttle to the game.
I think a Hampton Inn should be opening dowtown within the next month or so.

I'm not 100 percent, but I'd imagine the Hilton Downtown will be expensive as shite for a football weekend. It's usually one of, if not THE most expensive hotel in the city. But I do agree, the location is top notch with all the bars right there.

Stayed at courtyard for Florida game 2 years ago. They had shuttle. But I blacked out during 3rd quarter from the Combo of Beam and Sun beating down on my head. Left folks I was with. Left stadium and just started walking. Ended up in some bad spots. Eventually made my way to some restaurant/bar under the interstate. Cell phone was out of juice. Bartender Said cab prolly would not show up. So I asked him how far I was from the casino. I figured there would be cabs galore. He pointed me to casino. Walked there, went to BJ table, lost a grand AND had to pay for my own beers. What a shithole that place is. Then went to lobby of whatever hotel that is connected to said shithole casino and waited an hour and a half for a cab. F that. Staying in NO next year end paying for a driver.

I wasn't there when they opened I don't think. I honestly can't remember when they did open

as the others say, you really can't stay within walking distance to both...I would recommend you just stay at one of the hotels around constitution and plan to hit walk ons or something like that after the game until the traffic clears out...

4 hotels downtown; in order of recommendation,
1. Hotel Indigo
2. Hilton Capital Park
3. Hampton Inn (new; should open in May '13)
4. Belle of BR Atrium Hotel (at casino)
LSU runs bus shuttles from downtown, within a few blocks of 1-3 that are reliable, to and from

It's been open for years now so it's good to go.

The new casino probably wouldn't be a bad place to stay. I'm sure they will have a shuttle.
