You can make one out of coat hangers and cookie cooling racks. That’s what we did and it works great.
All you have to buy is the little coax deal and screw it to the mast of the antenna. You can find out how to make it in detail online. Just YouTube it.

FWIW, we bought one years ago from the Direct TV guy that was floating around campus. It's a great antenna, but we also have issues with CBS. We pick up other stations fine, including a few from Lafayette, but WAFB is sensitive.

You can actually use a paper clip if you get in a bind.

My GF bought an HD antenna at bestbuy. I made a fractal antenna out of galvanized wire. No brazing or solder. Just screws and washers with a wood back. I made 4 star shapes with two about the size of a plate and two the size of a saucer. It beats the pants off the one we bought. It took 10 minutes to make.

Can’t go wrong with a Marathon. $169 and compact. I get New Orleans tv stations in Gonzales.

Brilliant! You say only screws and washers? It looks like soldiering but that could just be flash from the camera.
Hmm, I wonder if I could make one from those political sign holders (wire H things).

That's exactly what we did. Just like the poster you're replying to said, use a wooden back and just screw the screws in. We cut up wire coat hangers into "V" shapes, but turned them sideways and put a screw/washer at the base of the "V." You want the base at the middle of the wooden back and have the V open wider as it goes further from the middle of the wooden back, if that makes sense.
Only thing we bought was the coax part that you also screw on, then just screw on regular coax cable to the bottom and run that to your TV. Ours, like the previous poster said, took about 10 minutes to make. We get ABC, CBS, NBC, and it was dirt cheap.
Plus it's kinda fun to make it.

That looks like you'd die if you touch it.

I have ROKU, but for my local channels and out door (MAIN CHANNELS only-no cable) I use a $10 antenna from ebay.

work pretty good.only 1 local channel I do not get because of location pf antenna, but outdoors should do better.

We use a Verizon jetpack. It's $20/month, unlimited data. Hook up a Roku/Apple TV/etc and you're all set.

Doesn’t this require streaming? How do you get clear stream signals when there’s a ton of people on campus?

Neither are antennas. The real question you need to ask is how hard is it to catch the channel you want to watch from the location you are watching it. I'm guessing you want to catch CBS and ABC from LSU's campus? This shows the distance from the towers to LSU's campus. You should have a problem catching ABC, CBS or FOX using a cheap antenna.
Antenna direct

This. After buying every antenna on the market, we made one with coat hangers and a two by four and it works better than anything you can buy.
