Thoughts?

"As a coach, I always tell myself, I'll never ask a kid to do anything I wouldn't ask my own son, and so for him, selfishly, I could have put him in a conundrum where he had to make a decision that affected his future. I didn't want to allow that to happen, so we did everything we could to protect him. I also, again, thought that as coaches we could put together a plan that would allow Jontre to lead us to victory."

100% agree.

No reason for Nuss to burn a RS to play a meaningless bowl game with a large disadvantage. A game no one is going to remember in 3 months.

Lord forbid we ask a player to step up and be a leader during a very Difficult time.
Nussmeir will never start for LSU baring injuries.

You're an idiot. The coaches have the big picture in mind and not just one bowl game that even they know isn't a big deal. It made sense for the player AND the team.

I agree with Coach Davis assessment. IMO, some the ambiguous tweets LSU put out leading up to the game about the QBs made this situation worse.

That’s what you got out of this?

This is a coach making a decision, albeit unpopular, and sticking to it. This isn’t coach O taking suggestions from reporters and changing his mind week to week.

Even with Nuss this game may have just been more competitive. Nuss sits half board clutches their pearls and shakes fist. Nuss sitting allowed Jontre a proper send-off for all of the time and work he put in over the years.

"I play for the name on my helmet, not the name on the back of my jersey."

- Travis Daniels after blowing his RS in the 2001 SECCG

Fvck that kid. If he thinks he needs 4 more years of college to get to the NFL, then he sucks anyway. He just wants an extra year to parachute out when he gets beat out by Howard.

Brad Davis is obviously a “huge pussy” and “traitor” to LSU.

Nuss playing:

The positive influence on outcome of a meaningless bowl game versus no positive influence on outcome of 1 full year of LSU football.

Time is now for you to reflect on your decision making skills.

Myles Brennan needs it and we are depending on him going into next year. Your argument is childish and frankly ignorant.

do you not detect my huge sarcasm in calling assholes out for their comments about Nussmeier last night?

FYI, these guys had a RS and were in college five years: Joe Burrow, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott, Baker Mayfield, Derek Carr, Trace McSorley, AJ McCarron. Two #1 Overall Picks, Two Heismans, 3 Nattys. Bunch of no talent losers.

I respect Brad Davis (and who knows what took place behind the scenes), but my view on redshirts hasn't changed. It's a luxury of a program with tons of depth or a necessity for someone who may have been injured.

We clearly didn't have that luxury last night. Maybe I misunderstand the concept of being on a team and stepping up to play your role when you are the best option at a position, but I thought it was everyone all in together working for one common goal rather than a bunch of individuals making decisions based on how it might affect their individual futures. But then again, there are a lot of things I don't understand these days (ahem...Max Johnson).

They should have just said Nuss got hurt in practice and it would have ended all the stupid drama. Who gives a shite.

It speaks more to the fact that they did not feel like Nussmeier could make a big enough difference to win the game

I have nothing against the kid, hope he does well. He might be a more athletic Brennan at this stage of his development

But LSU isn’t accomplishing what Kelly came here to do if Nuss’ involvement in last night’s game was a factor

3 out of the 5 transferred....just like what Nuss is planning to do. That's why he needs the extra year dummy. Thanks for proving my point. Trace McSorley?

Davis is 100% right and you’re 100% wrong. You aren’t asking a player to “step up” in this case, you’re asking him to sacrifice an entire year of eligibility for one game.

Take a pause and realize how ungrateful and selfish that makes you look.

Brad Davis was a member of coach O’s staff.

You stated "if he needs four more years, than he sucks". My list seems to disprove that. Transferring does not = sucking.

The coaches respected his wishes to not play, which they should have. If Nuss said he wanted to play he would have.
