They should’ve called up Ryan Clark for a few bucks to help.

This is why you don’t promote an unproven guy to OC for the sake of one player.

this is the correct answer...

i know everyone will be pissed at Underwood, and yeah, it sucks... at the end of the day, he's an 18 year old HS Sr being offered generational money....

but at the end of the day, Kelly made a bad hire (again) and Underwood and everyone else has seen the results... he hitched his wagon to Sloan thinking it would guarantee Underwood to us, but didn't factor in that if Sloan underperformed, it may cause some doubts in the Underwood camp and make him vulnerable to other schools coming in the fold, telling him "look at LSU's offense"...

the ONLY play for Kelly now is to fire Sloan, hire a proven OC and hit the portal b/c we've already struck out in the HS class of 2025... the QB room is definitely a liability going forward, so he better figure it the frick out, quickly, or we very well could be looking at very low point for the program

Likely primarily about the money, and LSU was 100% used as leverage, but (1) if LSU was in the hunt for anything other than a loss in the equivalent of the Tampax Bowl due to Seniors not playing, and/or (2) BK was a good coach, it may have influence him to stay the course. What’s sad is that BK is so egotistical that he believed the dude wanted to play for him.

He probably got on here and read shot like this. A mop could coach him for 10 million dollars.

Can STTD.

What a bunch of pieces of shite. Two weeks before ESD still saying he’s 100% committed and pulls this stunt. That’s dirty, no matter how you slice it.
Do we even know the number yet? Portnoy said he would pay whatever it took. Move on.

The $10 million excuse from LSU fans is bullshite.

Underwood should understand that LSU puts him in a much better position to be successful in the NFL where he can make all that money back plus much more - but he doesn't understand that because he's fricking stupid.

Either that or he doesn't expect to be a good NFL qb so he took the bigger payday now.

This is exactly why Saban chose to hang it up even though he was still on top of the game.

He didn’t want to deal with NIL, the portal and what recruiting has become.

I agree it’s bullshite, but not in the way you’re suggesting or the way they’re talking about. “He’d be stupid to turn down $10.5 million.” “Everybody would take $10 million.” Those comments suggest LSU offered him $0. Which is absurd. Almost everyone who even guesses at it, says our offer was somewhere in the upper 6-figure range. So he would have been only “turning down” whatever the difference in the 2 offers was.

And we don’t know how Michigan’s offer was structured. But we do know it was over 4 years. And there’s no chance that Underwood thinks, right now, that he will be sniffing that 4th of college in Ann Arbor or anywhere else. But let’s just say, for the sake of argument, that Michigan’s offer was divided evenly over 4 years. So, like $2.6 per year. If our offer was $6 million over 3 years, sure $4.5 million sounds like a huge difference, but it would have only been $600k/year in this hypothetical, and I don’t think that’s enough to have swayed him in and of itself.

Why? Nobody on LSU’s staff coached Joe Burrow. Nobody on this staff called plays for Jayden Daniels. Sloan got a lot of credit for JD’s development, but after the last month of what we’ve seen out of the offense, maybe Jayden Daniels was just really fricking good and Sloan didn’t have a whole lot to do with it.

but he doesn't understand that because he's fricking stupid.

Is he? Why would everybody be throwing around a bunch of millions of dollars at a kid who’s fricking stupid and plays the 1 position in all of sports that requires you to NOT be fricking stupid to play it? And Michigan’s HC was the offensive coordinator and had a part—with Harbaugh being there, who knows how much, but some—in developing JJ McCarthy into a top 10 pick, and went halves without throwing a fricking pass.

Either that or he doesn't expect to be a good NFL qb so he took the bigger payday now.

Or, he’s watched LSU play football the last month. 1 game, no big deal, 2, probably not, but we haven’t won a game in a fricking month. We got All Americans false starting all over the place, the supposed best OL in CFB can’t run block for shite—and they gave up 7 sacks to Florida’s super mid defense Saturday. Maybe he sees Nuss—and the entire offense—regress like something none of us have ever seen. Our offense was ranked in the top 5 in the country not too long ago.

Maybe he saw our coaching staff—and players—with a an extra week to prepare and the playoffs on the line—come out and just get bitch slapped by a Sabanless Bama team. In Tiger Stadium.

Or maybe it’s BK cussing players out on the sidelines on the reg now. And one of them dishing it right back. Perhaps it was the the fact that our offense can’t get plays in on time and had to burn one Saturday on the 4th goddamn play? Or maybe even that when things got bad and we desperately needed leaders to step up, 2 of our defensive starters—both 4th year guys in college—did something selfish and stupid enough to warrant a 1 quarter suspension.

I know the theory is recruiting is a long-game and 1 win or loss doesn’t make a difference. And that’s probably right. But how bout 3? And not just that they were losses, but the manner in which we lost them. Seem completely inept, especially on offense. I would think the Underwood family would be fricking stupid if they DIDN’T take all this into consideration.

So to me, I don’t think it was all about the money at all. Was it a huge factor? Of course. But if we’re 8-2 today instead of 6-4, I think he’s still a Tiger.

It is pro sports. People need to get over it.

The athletics has nothing to do with the university anymore.

I agree that BK has struggled lately, but how is this his fault? Michigan is 5-5 with an offense whose QB has thrown for less than 900 yards and only broke 150 in a game once)roughly 200 yards). This is a money grab and nothing more. Based on reports, LSU wasn’t being cheap with their offer.

What’s sorry is he was supposed to sign in the next couple of weeks and be an early enrollee and ow LSU doesn’t have a replacement.

No. Saban couldn't deal with the fact that the rabbits had guns of their own.

Alabama, and yes LSU, were doing NIL before it became NIL. But unleashing the collectives manned by super rich alumni in conjunction with the portal is going to cause a lot of coaches to dump college football.
