Insider: @CollegeBaseCNT is hearing that Thatcher Hurd will get the nod for LSU tonight. Meaning if we see Paul Skenes, it will be out of the bullpen.

I’ll believe it when I see it when the game starts.

Hurd gets the Tigers 2 times through the lineup. Skenes can come in and get you the rest....or really close.

Bottom line is the bats will have to get going. Cag can throw gas but is all over the place. and when you get people on base, got to get them in.

I love Jay Johnson, but he is crazy if he has not had Skip, or Ryan Theriot, or even Joey Burrow talk to the team.

If this is true the arse hurt on this board is going to be at an all time high level for another correct decision from JJ (and Skenes, his family, and his future pro team).

It will be worse than delaying game for Skenes start in the SR which was also the right decision.

Today’s wind does not scare me. I’m on record about 1000 times before the series saying I was worried about Waldrep vs pen if the wind was blowing out.

Waldrep sucked but nobody knew it would be 30 frigging mph to straight away center.

We can smash right field.
Cags can be wild.

The relievers we will see today threw a bunch in the 11 inning game.

This is evenly matched, and is gonna come down to who has the biggest nads.

I’ma go with LSU on that one, with Skenes closing out a storybook season in relief today.

Unless we stop leaving runners on base and produce timely hitting and the bottom of the lineup after Cade actually produces, its not going to matter...

Go crooked in the top of the first.

Take the pressure off the pitcher and allow them to work without having to be perfect.

If Skenes is a realistic option tonight, you have two choices as to how to use him.

1. Keep him in the same spot he's been in all season and start him. The downside is that you know he almost assuredly won't go past 6 innings (if even that), so you better take as much advantage of him as you can while he's in the game and try to build a lead for when he has to come out.

2. Let him be the unhittable closer for the final 3-4 innings. Up 2 or 3 after 6 innings with Skenes coming in would be a daunting situation for UF to face. The downside is there is no guarantee you get to Skenes later with a lead. Then you'll be kicking yourself for not using him earlier.

Really the only downside to holding Skenes is you aren't really sure that you will get the starter Skenes in a reliever role....how will he react to basically being cool then having to heat up quick (relative to heating up for a start) to come in in relief. That's to me is the unknown and the biggest cause for concern.
