No, they dont.
Yeah they definitely do. You think they just happen to project everyone to end the season in the same position they are now? It’s obvious it’s adjusted weekly based on current standings.

That’s why all their autobids in the tourney is the team currently in first place in their conferences. For instance 18-21 UNCG is in 1st in the Southern conference by .5 games over ETSU who is 27-11 and an RPI twice as good yet they have UNCG in the tourney as autobid and ETSU out because their projections they put out are based on who would be in if the season ended today.

Its very clear you dont listen to the podcast where they put this together each week. They definitely project how at large teams are going to finish. Do they sit there and do it for every team? No. But when they have similar resumes to debate, they do quickly evaluate each teams upcoming schedule to guide their decision making.

And yes, for the smaller conference autobids, they just use the 1 seed in each conference
