Defensive delay of game call

Can’t remember the exact moment in the game but can someone please explain that penalty. Seems to me like all we did is shift the line? That’s fricking illegal now?

It’s a rule in the books for ages, though it has seldom been enforced. The defense yells MOVE and claps. When the offense is using the hand clap as a signal, it then becomes a “disconcerting signal” to induce a false start or errant snap.
It’s a bit Mickey Mouse, but the offense owns the right to the snap signal, therefore it is a foul.

Yes, except if you don’t clap it’s not a penalty, as a defense you are allowed to shift. Clapping is simulating the snap count, shifting is not

Refs blew the call which is why there was a makeup call later when the exact same thing happened

They said on the broadcast it's new this year that the call now includes "sudden movements designed to draw a false start" or something like that, on top of the hand claps from last year. It's retarded. What happened to the offense just needing to be accountable and disciplined? Coddle culture is ruining everything.
