For all of you folks that think Vitello doesn't make mistakes like CJJ

Did anyone notice that he brought in a lefty to face Curiel for a lefty on lefty matchup. After Curiel walked, he intentionally walked Jones in order to face lefty Brown. Instead of leaving his left handed pitcher in for a 2nd batter, he brings in a righty to face Brown. Brown proceeds to hit it out of the park.
I thought Vitello didn't make mistakes like that. Imagine that.
In game decisions can be a crapshoot. Nobody is perfect. There are other mistakes that could've cost the Vols. Yesterday, Vitello used up both of his challenges early in the game on non-scoring plays.

Yeah every move Vitello made today was wrong

i can't believe he brought in a righty to face Brown. I would have left the lefty in there.

He also had the same kind of revolving door bullpen that so many have hated on Jay for. They have the exact same issue we do- 4 or 5 dependable guys followed by a bunch of tossups. We fricking abused their tossups even harder than they did ours.

Not making a 9th inning defensive substitution for the guy who had 11 of the Vols 44 errors sure looked bad on Friday.
Looked great as a Tigers fan though.

He looked like he was going to cry with each move too.

How about when Vitello was down 6 in the top of the 7th with two outs and a man on first?
Not only was it dumbass to try to steal second when he needed more base runners, his guy gets caught stealing. Even if he got the base, it’s still a dumb risk to take. The reward of the extra base isn’t worth the risk of the out for a run that was near meaningless to the outcome.

He really did at times. And people think he's cool, because he mouths off at umps from time to time.

My whole point is that so many people think that we are the only team with holes in our bullpen and we over analyze every move Jay makes as if other coaches don't make the same "mistakes", too. A move is not a mistake until it fails, and even then it's just a move that didn't work.
A lot of people think that pinch hitting Dalton Beck was a mistake on Friday night. Other people think that it was genius, because it worked. I would be willing to bet that Beck's been swinging it good in practice, and Jay wanted to see how Beck would perform under pressure. Jay wasn't just looking at the end results (a hit that drove in 2 runs), but he was trying to figure out his frame of mind after not playing much all season. Is his head in the game, and is he going to work the count and wait for a good pitch to hit, or is he going up there swinging at everything because he's trying to hard in a pressure situation?
At the very least, Beck earned more chances, and Jay may have another left handed bat he can go to.
