Favorite Bech play was Blain Bech, with the fake field goal TD vs. Florida in the Swamp.

I was good friends with Martin. Great family. The comment by Jim Gleason at the end of the article is interesting because I also ran into Brett that same day in Marina Del Rey after watching the Saints game. to Brett and Jim.

I remember his brother running a trick play - fake punt? and remember also that he correct the reporter on the pronunciation of his name. The reporter pronounced it Beck, I think, and he told them it was pronounced Besh.

Both of the Bech kids were great LSU players.

ETA: When he was a senior, Blain also completed a 29-yard pass to David Jones on a fake field goal against Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl The play nearly resulted in a touchdown, as Jones came up just shy of the endzone. The fake against FU was in his junior season.

Thanks for the post. They are a great family and I had the pleasure of sitting next to them at a few away games back in the first few years with Saban.

That's the first thing I was reminded of when I heard the name Bech. That was pure awesomeness.
