The Athletic - Bruce Feldman
While Nebraska commit Trae Taylor was the #1 most impressive QB there, #2 was our boy Pop Houston.

NB4 should be recruiting board... I disagree, but feel free to move

2. Peyton Houston, ranked No. 8 among QBs and No. 94 overall, also impressed. The LSU commit is on the shorter side at about 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, but he’s polished and super smooth. It’s not hard to see him throwing for a ton of yards in the Lane Kiffin/Charlie Weis Jr. system in Baton Rouge. One of the Elite 11 coaches raved about Houston, who plays at longtime Shreveport, La., powerhouse Evangel Christian Academy and its deep shotgun system dating back to the Josh Booty days of the early 1990s. Houston is also adept operating under center, executing the play-action game.

5. Elijah Haven, the nation’s top-ranked QB and a Baton Rouge, La., native, committed to Alabama and already has an NFL body — like he’s been lifting with Jalen Hurts for years. At 6-4-plus and 230 pounds, Haven is a big dude who looks effortless moving around before unleashing balls downfield.

You may say that he "popped"

I think Houston is a really good Russell Wilson comp. Same frame, DT ability, but not incredibly fast. Very smart player that can command the offense and make plays and has a live arm to hit tight windows.

Can't get past his lack of height

Dude who can run and extend plays and throws with accuracy will help you get over his size.

We said the same about Russell Shepard.
Seriously, idk but a listed height of 5-10 makes me suspect he’s closer to 5-8. Hope he turns out to be the real deal.

Why? Tons of short qbs have succeeded in college.

I thought the issue was, Shepard couldn't throw.

With Lane at the helm it shouldn’t. He has a proven track record of having success with shorter QBs.

It's become lengthy

This might be one of the most racist things I’ve ever seen on this board lol, literally the only thing similar about their games is they’re both black.
Shepard ran for more yards than he passed for his senior year of high school. He looked awful as a QB in the passing drills.
Pop Houston goes for 4000 and 40 passing every season and wins most accurate at the Elite 11.
Just couldn’t be more different

He's roughly an inch shorter than Trinidad Chambliss, and he's 17 years old with another full year of high school to grow. Its not that big a deal.

After I watched Shepard’s high school highlight reel, I knew he would never play QB at LSU.

I seriously doubt Chambliss is 6 feet tall.

Not really a big deal in college

Accuracy is probably the most important stat for a QB to have. An inaccurate downfield passer can’t throw a receiver open.

That's what did that Drew Brees kid in years ago......
