You couldn’t really tell from that angle, but in his defense, he had his helmet on backwards….

Absolutely pathetic.

At the same time if it’s out to mason Taylor it’s a 4-5 yard gain OR just throw it at durhams feet and we are playing second down.

Instead Bama extends their lead with a short field.

The play that lost the game, LSU had all the momentum finally before that.

If I’m a coach, I make Chester watch that on an endless loop all offseason

I never noticed he was more concerned about a lineman already blocked by 2

Nuss’s fault really, not solely on Chester

Chester and Mubenga have been a disaster. I knew losing Dellinger would be a killer.

Wtf is that. He looks directly at the blizter and watches him run free to the QB. Negative IQ center

Nah, nah. I don't think so. I think Nuss played it right here. This GIF is the replay from the end zone cam. The actual play shows from a sideline -- Nuss is running away from the defender with 2 hands on the ball, he goes to tuck it when he feels the hand on his jersey. Defender just did a perfect strip at the perfect time -- anybody would have coughed it up.

I think the same thing happened at the end zone in the USC opener.

p226 - I saw your thread right before you edited it. Thanks for following up.

As for the play, they need to check Chester's peripheral vision. Football's version of Olé. :

That looked like he was deliberately trying to get Nuss killed. How else can one explain his not even attempting to make a block. He is a huge liability. I find it hard to believe that LSU does not have anyone that can play center better than this guy.

There are only 6 defender that could possibly come from the box. Three to his left and three to his right. Two of the box defenders on his left immediately retreat into zone coverage. This leaves both the LG and LT to handle one rusher. Logic would HAVE to dictate he shifts his focus to the other side.

Nope.

He continuously shuffles his feet to the left staring down the one fricking defender rushing from that side. It was even a bit of a delayed blitz from the linebacker, giving him plenty of time to shift his focus and get on the block.

I mean, come on man.

That's an all time whiff of a block, but it's not like Will whiffed and left Nuss blindsided to get rocked and fumble. Nuss saw that db coming the whole way and didn't show any priority over protecting the ball there (a sign of things to come all night)
