Has LSU tweaked the colors?

I have been noticing lately some of the newer products seem to have a brighter shade of gold more of a yellow look. I was in Academy yesterday and a lot of the Columbia products looked like this. The purple is a lighter shade as well on the new stuff.

those are universal colors - for other schools also

nah, LSU colors are very specifically spelled out...would take a hell of an effort to change them even a little.

It's always been purple and yellow

I work at the Alexandria academy and the colors have kinda
Changed. We have the older ones and the newer products and there's a slight difference in the two

I was wondering if this could be attributed to a change in fabric? The style seems to be shifting to more "advanced" fabrics (dry-fit, wicking, and the like).

You would think but I am telling you the purple and gold are both lighter in shade on all of the new Columbia products. It's very noticeable.

So are we still using yellow or is it actually gold now?

China has a shortage of Purple and Gold dye. They are trying to dilute it.
True colors maybe skewed.

Columbia chooses those colors, not LSU.

At some point prior to the Mardi Gras season of 1893, Purple and Gold ribbon was purchased (At Reynolds Department store in New Orleans) to adorn the LSU's Grey uniforms for the first LSU vs Tulane game to be played on November 25, 1893. There was no Green ribbon in stock at the store, so the LSU contingent bought all the P&G. Tulane subsequently purchased the Green ribbon.
When you see the Purple, Gold and Green Mardi Gras colors every year, you're seeing the origin of the LSU "Canary Yellow" shade of Gold.
I do not know why the official LSU school color is listed as "Old Gold." We can only assume that the darker "Old Gold" was actually the gold tone used in the early historical Mardi Gras colors and at some point was changed to the brighter "Canary Yellow Gold" that LSU currently uses in their athletic team uniforms.
BTW, former LSU "Civil War Era" President David F. Boyd had originally selected "Blue and White" as the school colors, but they were never officially adopted.........

Les miles is obviously behind it all, he's changing the purple to blue and gold to yellow. then we can look like his alma mater

How do you know this? Do you work for Academy? Do you work for Columbia?
Textile colors can be different from RGB colors. Just because LSU picks a particular shade of color doesn't mean the manufacturer can always match up to it. There are examples in the NFL (Colts, for one) where a team's jersey colors darkened or lightened based on changes by the manufacturer to fabric.

Because every product must be screened and approved by the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) who then makes a recommendation to the LSU Office of Trademark Licensing where they have a cat there who makes the ultimate decision. One of the main considerations/requirements of the screening process is that PMS 268 and PMS 123 must be used for LSU logos and other indicia.
You will see products where the colors may be off (sometimes considerably) and they can be reported to the CLC. Of course, no one is going to report every little misuse of color, but technically you can because every vendor is supposed to be able to produce products with the correct PMS colors.
