Google Earth says 179'

It's probably within 5-10' of that.

Completely forgot I have plans as well. I'll try to confirm when I have a chance.

ETA:

Couldn't find a reference elevation for the field but the top row of the west is just over 169' from the terrace below. Close enough for government work.

Correct. When I look on Google Earth, I'm getting a pretty consistent elevation of 205' on the west side upper, 201' on the east side upper.

Field elevation along the sidelines is pretty consistently 26'.

West Side upper = 205' - 26' = 179'
East side upper = 201' - 26' = 175'

That is crazy. It’s literally about the same height as the new bridge. At least you will get a nice breeze.

It could be. There's a jet plane outside of the SE corner of the stadium, so...

Our seats in 414 are exactly 4 miles from our door. Give or take 50ft.

Altitude of the seat from the ground would be a different number than height above/distance from the field, correct?

Not significantly. The field in Tiger Stadium is essentially at the same ground level as South Stadium Drive and the West side parking lot.

Lots of places have the field dug into the ground (Bryant-Denny, Jordan Hare, etc.), but Tiger Stadium doesn't because it sits in the Mississippi River flood plain and would flood all the time if it was below elevation. As it is, we have to have a lot of pumps to get the water out when it rains, if I recall the articles about the drainage correctly.

My dad's seats were at the very top of the South end zone against the fence on the goal line before the upper decks. The players didn't look like ants at all to me.

In 1988, the top of the south end zone was MUCH lower than the top of the upper deck.

Which part of the field? It’s not flat (unlike the earth), there’s a crown in the middle for stormwater runoff so the elevation could change about a foot depending on where your measuring.
