In my gut I feel Jay pulled Ware too early.

Especially when you are going to Shores.

Shores has had ample opportunities and hasn’t capitalized on them. Time to move him to an emergency situation role.

Ware is not the guy. He’s not weekend starter material.

Then SHORES is definitely not the guy

Shore and Ware are misunderstood. Giving up 5 runs on a Sunday isn’t that bad. Bama pitched backward this weekend so it didn’t work out.
During CPM’s entire career we didn’t have a Sunday starter as good as Shores. Kid throws strikes, just needs to work on missing bats.

We need to keep trying shores if we want to reach our potential

Thanks Coach! What D1 school do you coach?

Yea we've shown time and time again that the only alternative is Cowan, but I like the idea of having Cowan as your game 1 RP and game 4 starter in Omaha. And no one else has been good enough to start Sundays. Ware did ok but certainly didn't seize the job yesterday. Schmidt curls up anytime you put him in front of a crowd. Noot had a couple good games a few weeks back but has gone back to being unable to find the strike zone. Williams is starting to look good but seems like more of a reliever than a starter. Rizy is coming along but still inconsistent throwing strikes
Yesterday was basically an open audition for someone to take the Sunday job from Shores and no one did

It’s my gut feeling that Shores should not be used unless we are up by 8 runs , and we desperately need a hitting coach. Our batters should have chased that Bama rag arm by the 3rd inning. He was garbage and we made him look elite. That pitcher couldn’t get 3 strikes over the plate without our help. Our batters should have set dead red on the fastball and kept their bats on their shoulders every other pitch. That would have resulted in walks or hits. It’s clear that Jay is in over his head with respect to teaching hitting and plate discipline. He needs to get a proven hitting coach on staff ASAP!

Rizy is a great potential bullpen weapon. I think the only 3 candidates to take the 3rd starter spots are williams, ware, and schmidt. And id rather have a couple good lefty options in the pen. Pitching really hasnt been a big problem in game 3s though, its the bats. Which may just be some regression

Have I been watching the wrong Shores?

It all boils down to losing Sheerin and Guidry before the season started. If Guidry was working on being a starter, then you have to believe he would’ve been the Sunday guy. Worse case scenario, Guidry and Sheerin come out of the pen and we could then move Cowan to Sunday. Johnson is making what we have work because at the end of the day, you have to win 2/3 so you load up on those.
The problem isn’t the pitching, it’s the bats. Jones is killing us with his slump. Milam still isn’t where he needs to be. If we can get those 2 bats back going, things will be fine.

As frustrated as I am with Shores, this is 100% correct.
Shores has the most talent, best stuff on the staff. He’s rusty as hell having not pitched in almost 2 years. If he can work it out, he will be a huge piece to a great run in June.

We are 75% into the season and he hasn't figured it out yet. He's not consistent enough for me. He's going to have a short leash from here on out. Schmidt needs to eat up some innings during SEC play

In 2012 we had Aaron Nola starting on Sundays.

He pitched better than Shores yesterday. I would of let him go another inning with a short leash to him

After yesterday shores has an ERA around 8 in SEC Play with a BA adaibst over .300. He does not need to be pitching against SEC Competition! Enough already!
