Is it just Jay or do other teams tinker as much as Jay?

He only tinkers if its not working. In 2023, he stopped tinkering once he put Belly at DH and Pearson in the OF.

Seems like he’s still not happy with the lineup or pitching rotation, especially out of the pen.

No one should be happy with where the lineup or bullpen are at this time, especially with no major injuries to any position.

I think he’s the best recruiter and middle of the road tactician. I just don’t want to miss the super regionals again

"Tinkering" is crucial to a team elevating its ceiling. Teams that don't tinker don't explore their full upside. I would not want a coach who does not tinker. Starting the season so well has afforded Jay the ability to tinker a little later into this season than others. Last year he couldn't afford to tinker because every game was a must win due to our shite start in SEC play.

It can be the difference in winning the CWS vs being arkansas and winning the regular season every year

These kids pitching for LSU out of the bullpen are nothing more than the product of someone's bad evaluations.

You people really forget Paul Mainieri was LSU’s head coach for 15 freaking years.

Plenty of coaches tinker this much. Mainieri did it too. Every lineup that has cold bats or arms not throwing well tinkers. You should see how often game 3 starters change across college baseball each week

It takes three minutes to know that Jones ain’t playing third

After that there are hard choices to make. It’s time to make em.

And, pitchers. Start throwing strikes. God I don’t understand the misses we have.

I bet they throw great during practice.

Eh these guys were highly rated by MLB scouts too. Scouting HS baseball players can be really tough. I think I'd place more blame on pitch calling than talent eval. You don't have to lead the league in strikeouts every year. If you have guys that can't hit their spots on the corners then throw it right down the middle and at least make them hit the ball

Im sure we groove em in the bullpen, but something goes off. Just 5 foot misses, I dont understand how one can pitch at the level they do and completely fall apart for long 5-6 pitch sequences

Not really. I think Jay tinkers to see what his options are down the road. Playing Jones at 3B is like him trying Trav at 1B.

This didn't happen until the regionals. Beloso was still playing 1B in the last series of the season. In the SEC tourney, Trav was DH at least once and Jobert was even at 3B to give White a day off. After the SEC tourney, Jay settled on his 8 starters (Trav and Milazzo still swapped at catcher). But the batting order was always changing as well.

It should. Has a team every had 9 players all hit linearly through the course of an entire season in baseball history?
Hitter's performance ebbs and flows. As guys get hot and other guys slump the order has to change. I don't consider the batting order to be tinkering. It's a staple of baseball

Well Tenn has been tinkering with things like that this year as well so there’s that.

Yes, they do. We just don't follow those teams as closely as we follow LSU baseball so to us their "tinkering" doesn't happen.
