Is there any reason why the band can’t play Neck during a TV time out?

From my basic understanding the main concern about the song is that any explicit lyrics are picked up and can be heard on broadcast. So what exactly is the issue with playing it during a tv time out when that’s not a concern? I’m sure this has been answered before but I haven’t actually seen an answer to this question yet.

The song has no explicit lyrics.
The fans are just stupid.

Us classy fans don’t want to hear the expletives

Because it is and should remain a family friendly environment. The band playing a song that includes a chant from the crowd with expletives is not family friendly.

Think about the children!!!!!

You could here the chant on tv against bama when the game was over. I don't see the problem playing it. Students will chant it whether it's played or not.

There are actually some of us who want to go to the games with our wife, daughters, and sons and who don't need to hear STTDB from the student section. I know how hard that is to get across to some people.........

I've heard worse walking through the quad.

Exactly.
Whether you like it or not, it makes the fanbase come across as low class trash. And STTDB isn't even creative. It's as if a group of students just thought it would be fun to say "bad words" and giggle.
LSU wants to portray their brand in a certain image and I doubt promoting the chanting of STTDB fits that image. So I understand the administrations reasoning for not allowing it to be played. There is going to be random yelling of foul language from the crowd at football games. It was like that 35 years ago when I started attending games regularly, and I'm certain it was like that before. But celebrated mass yelling of sexually explicit vulgarities wasn't ever a thing until "neck".

The words don’t bother me, it’s just a bad chant
Too many words jammed into not enough time and no rhythm

If the band consistently played it during TV timeouts, you'd have 5 year old kids chanting along with the rest of the crowd.

Do you mouth breathers not grasp the concept that a UNIVERISTY of higher learning should not “encourage” a chant like that?
It’s called being responsible and having some class.
It has absolutely zero to do with a fine from a television broadcast. Zero.
The fans chanting a phrase is one thing, but the band, as a representative of the university, can not be encouraging the chant.

Completely understand. Don't have any answer for this. Just noticed on tv they were chanting it without playing neck.

The director of TGBFTL, Kelvin Jones, put out a statement on his Facebook page earlier this season saying that there isn’t a fine for playing Neck. But TB isn’t going to play it because he isn’t comfortable doing so with regards to the colugo chants. He is a father of young kids and does not condone that type of language because he wouldn’t to expose them to that. That’s obviously paraphrasing.

You’ll never be able to control young adults. At that age, they will likely do something if and specifically because you don’t want them to. If you know Something will trigger that behavior you don’t desire, it’s wise to avoid it. However, that won’t guarantee those kids/young adults won’t find another outlet to rebel. That is what we have here.

I could understand this if it were a problem at LSU baseball games, but not football games. Nothing about LSU football games is family friendly. The people saying it needs to be family friendly, will be the first ones to yell out, “frick you ref. You suck dick.” And they’ll also be the ones getting blackout drunk at the tailgate, in front of their family. But yeah, let’s not play neck so it can be a more family friendly environment.

Disclaimer —I am older. Mrs Corleone(no pics) and I graduated form LSU in the Hallman days. One kid already graduated from LSU and another will next year.
In the 60’s and 60’s it was risqué for the students to chant “Go to hell ole miss”. In the 80s and 90s it was risqué to chant “kick their arse” after the Tiger Rag first down riff. LSU students have always been risqué and pushed the envelope relative to what’s acceptable. It is exactly what a group of 15,000 18-22 year olds will do when primed with alcohol and a common motivating factor. Frankly, I am surprised that they haven’t come up with alternatives.
My point is that IT DOESNT MATTER what the GBFTL plays. Students will come up with a risqué chant to go with it. It’s what students do. Might as well go with one 80% of the stadium enjoys , absent a small group. The fact that today one of the most currently watched and anticipated SEC fan base YouTube channels even mentioned Neck tells you that it’s generally accepted as a less than profane chant. (A bank sponsors the channel ). If you let them play it, it loses its value or shock as a profane chant. If you “block it”, they will continue to come up with profane chants.
Alabama embraced Dixieland Delight despite its PC incorrect name and “chants” of the crowd. We should do the same with Neck.
