re: It's a midweek game loss before a huge series, it means absolutely nothing.

On paper, everything looks fine with a 12 - 6 record in the SEC, but we are coming off a sweep @ Auburn and EASILY could have been swept at home this past weekend.
We are in a slump and maybe last night's humiliation is going to wake us up, because the way we are playing the 12 - 6 SEC record could turn into 12 - 18 to end the year.
Johnson impresses me in the offseason, and other than having the best pitcher ever and maybe the best outfielder ever on the same team, he has been average at best.

It means they got embarrassed.

Jake Brown has been the only bright spot on our team the last 2 weeks. Standfield continues to stand out and Pearson comes and goes. Curiel is a phenomenon. But jones is NOT the savior of this team just cuz he’s a veteran. I’ve seen him look careless too many times and he definitely struggles against sec arms. Half this team needs to wake up offensively and someone needs to emerge in the bull pen!

You got f'ing run ruled in your own ball park by a low tier Mid Major, from an equally shitty conference. Keep pumping sunshine dumbass

When you loose like that it means a lot

Depends on how the team reacts. If you react like we hope too it actually could be a good thing. If the downfall commences then it is of course bad.

You can say EASILY could have been swept like every SEC weekend. Except for anyone who plays Mizzou.

No, Alabama outplayed us and we really lucked out those two games. The game they beat us wasn't close. The two games we beat them went down to the wire.
Just like LSU softball outplayed Texas, but Texas lucked out those two games to take the series. The game we beat them wasn't close. The two games they beat us were come from behind in the last innings.
We are in a slump and maybe the best thing was to be humiliated last night. If we would have lost 5 - 4, then the players would just have shrugged it off. We shall see this weekend, if our slump continues or if this was a blessing in disquise.

We out hit Bama 32 to 24 for the series. So I’m not so sure about that that’s a pretty significant difference. Was it a close hard fought series? Yes Were outplayed and deserved to lose the series? Not really.

Speak for yourself. It's embarrassing

I don't care about any excuses, and who thinks it doesn't matter, or who the next opponent is. I care about that loss. As a fan, I don't ever want to get beat, much less run-ruled by a severely inferior opponent.
If I played in that game, I would be utterly embarrassed. You can deal with losses and move on. But you can't be a winning team if you can lose like that and it doesn't bother you. So I should hope that everyone on that team cares about that loss, even if some fans don't.

Unless things change dramatically and quickly, this team won’t win 5 more SEC games before Hoover.
The lineup is really poor and has been for a while. There are 4 dependable pitchers. None of that seems to be changing.

Texas lost mid-week games to Texas State and UT-Arlington and are currently ranked #1. Conference game series carries more weight, obviously.

Wow!!! Stick to football, leave baseball to the baseball fans.

The lineup on paper looks really good. They can have innings where they score 4 and 5 runs (see 1st game vs. Alabama), but right now, they are in a slump. A @ M had their long slump to start the season.
I think the main reason is Jared Jones.
At the start of the season, he wasn't chasing outside pitches and they were called Balls. Now, for some reason, those 50 - 50 outside pitches have been called strikes more often than not. He laid off of them several times and was called out and started to become frustrated with the ump.
Now, he's chasing those outside pitches and losing the battle. The rest of the players are trying to "pick him up" and are pressing. Add to that Jay, making terrible decisions. Why Braswell doesn't start every game is unbelievable to me.

This team will go as Milam and jones go. Period.

Yeah, Milam hasn't been that impressive compared to the end of last year.

It's not. The football loss would almost guarantee not playing for a natty. A mid week loss, although embarrassing, is just that. It has little bearing on the season's outcome.
