Over and over I see Tiger Stadium referred to as DEATH Valley, but originally the nickname was DEAF VallEy, a play on the term death valley. This started back before the endzones were filled in. It is a testament to the decibels created by Tiger fans.
For years there was a Shell gas station in Tigertown, one block from campus that was named DEAF VALLEY SHELL. Visiting correspondents did interviews there to show the total investment of Tiger fans, that they even named businesses after the iconic stadium.
Clemson already had a Death Valley.
I SAY BRING BACK DEAF VALLEY!!!

Wrong. It is Death Valley, and has been consistently since it had a nickname. It has never been Deaf Valley. The only "Deaf" at LSU was the "Deaf Dome", which was the nickname for the PMAC for many years (and hopefully will be again, soon).

It's NOT "Deaf" Valley.

LSU embraces "Death Valley."

LSU MARKETS "Death Valley."

It's staying "Death Valley."

I've been paying attention to LSU football since the late forties when my brother went there. He referred to it as "death valley."

I was there in the mid-fifties - it was "death valley" then for sure.

eta: In the late forties, it wasn't OFTEN referred to as 'death valley' - that was the last of the Tinsley years. If students shouted anyting at all it was "Gus has got to go!"

It's Death Valley. The Reveille story is written by some 20 year old kid whose source is some history professor who cites the earthquake game to support the Deaf Valley name. It was Death Valley when I started going to games and following the Tigers in the early sixties. I never heard of Deaf Valley - that's silly.

According to the article, we also had a quarterback named Tommy Hudson who threw the touchdown in the earthquake game. I stopped reading.

It appears this debate has been going on for awhile. Paul Manasseh insisted it should be called Deaf Valley.

I dont freaking care """"""WHOOOOOOOOOOOO""""", called it "Deaf Valley" in the past, present or future - Paul Manasseh, The Blithering Idiots at the Reveille, LSU opponents coaches', players, and fans, local Baton Rouge reporters and writers, the Media, The Queen of England, His Holiness the Pope, The Ruler of Uranus - """"WHO FREAKING EVER""""

Tiger Stadium is """"""""""""""""""DEATH""""""""""""""""""""
VALLEY. OK !!! """"""""DEATH""""""" -TH -TH.

"""""""""""NOT""""""""""""" 'Deaf'.

Do you realize how utterly stupid, moronic, an incomprehensibly RIDICULOUS that looks and sounds ????

In the FIRST PLACE, if anyone DID call Tiger Stadium "Deaf Valley" in the past........
"WHERE IN THE BLOODY HELL DO YOU THINK THEY DERIVED THE WORD """""DEAF"""" FROM ??????? -
-------"""""""DEATH"""""""" !!!!!!!!!!!!

"Deaf Valley" doesn't make any sense AT ALL.

It's been "Death Valley" since the """""FREAKING FIFTIES""""" OKAY ????????????????

The PMAC was known as """"""THE DEAF DOME""""""
when I was a student at LSU in the early 80's.

Calling Tiger Stadium """"DEAF VALLEY"""" is

""""""""SACRELIGEOUS""""""""" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE STOP IT......
NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
