Blitzing a QB who is better on his feet than with his arm is not the best advice

He will just step up and run and blow by our front 7

I think the best plan is to confuse Milroe. He is not great at reading defenses so we need to come from places he doesn't expect and then not come when he expects us to, etc.

This is a game that Aranda would have dominated.

LSU has horrible gap integrity. This will bite them.

Hopefully the “new” DB’s can cover their men long enough, while we confuse Milroe and he holds the ball long enough to produce inaccurate throws or takes sacks.

The concept is correct my friend. But blitzing suggests we will be sending more pass rushers than they will have blockers, leaving large swathes of the field open for runs or roll out passes. I hope that isn’t our approach. But we will absolutely need to send more than 4 on downs that are likely to be passes. And be aware to not get past the QB if at all possible.

Christ. Some of you can't get past the black/white QB thing. Milroe's last 3 games rushing:

3yds (Tenn)
-19yds (Ark)
-31yds (Aggy)

Bama's O-Line is garbage and they struggle picking up pressure. Sitting back and allowing him time to THROW the ball is how he beats you. Not with his legs.

Exactly. Also, this isn't 2003 anymore and blitzing isn't as effective like back in my day.

Someone gets it! The video on Bama is overwhelmingly clear, need to put a lot of pressure on QB.

Can you elaborate on that, Bill Belichick?

No, contain the box and rush from the blind side with Perkins and play man coverage in the backfield. If LSU plays zone coverage in the back field they will get beat bad.

We should be able to disrupt him enough with the front four, dont really need to get him on the ground, just make him uncomfortable.

Per PFF Stats (out of 182 FBS QBs with 4 games played and 30 drop backs)

QB Rating - Blitzed
3. Jayden Daniels (LSU) (149.0)
11. Ken Seals (Vandy) (130.3)
21. Brady Cook (Mizzou) (121.2)
22. Conner Weigman (A&M) (120.8)
23. Spencer Rattler (USC) (119.4)
36. Graham Mertz (UF) (112.3)
39. Jaxson Dart (Miss) (111.1)
41. Will Rogers (State) (109.2)
42. Carson Beck (UGA) (108.8)
44. Payton Thorne (AUB) (107.6)
67. KJ Jefferson (ARK) (99.1)
71. Devin Leary (UK) (98.0)
82. AJ Swann (Vandy) (94.3)
84. Jalen Milroe (Bama) (94.2)
99. Max Johnson (A&M) (90.2)
120. Joe Milton III (VOLS) (81.4)
126. Robby Ashford (AUB) (79.4)

And Milroe is averaging 1.8 yards per carry and 4-5 sacks per game.

This is an area that was drastically improved vs both Auburn and Army. I realize that those 2 teams have poor offenses but they were both run heavy and we shut them down by playing our gap assignments.

My worry isn't whether or not we can keep our gap integrity but whether or not we get completely blown off the ball.

People who kept posting this obviously don't watch the games. Can Milroe run if need be? Yes but he only has 142 rushing yards on the season. Jayden Daniels has 521 rushing yards on the season. Milroe is physically gifted as a runner but he isn't as open to running as Daniels yet so many seem to think so.

Milroe would rather stay in the pocket & continue to look downfield as a passer. Bama's pass protection hasn't been what it normally is in 2023 but one of the reasons for the Tide's high number of sacks allowed is the fact Milroe will hold onto the ball in the pocket longer than most QBs.

THANK YOU!!! Milroe will hold onto the ball in the pocket, looking for the big play more times than not. Also, Bama's offensive line has STRUGGLED MIGHTILY this with blitz & stunt pick ups. Their lineman can be confused easily.

The Bama offensive line sucks in terms blitz & stunt pick ups. Not blitzing and/or stunting is like saying Bama shouldn't test the Tigers poor secondary. You pick your spots but as a DC, you have absolutely attack their weaknesses until they show they can stop it or adjust. Milroe has shown to make mistakes in terms of interceptions when he's pressured or confused.

Get pressure with your down 4. That’s the silver tuna, Marv. Blitz in unpredictable times, get pressure without blitz, that’s where you can stifle an offense
