does 18-12 get you a regional host?

Yes, in fact, 17 may get you a regional host this year. A lot depends on the other teams in the conference and college baseball as a whole.

18 probably puts you in a position to be the super host (top seed in the regional pairing), 19 or more almost certainly does. Supers do depend on who wins a regional, though.

This will probably clear up as the season approaches the final weekend of conference play.

Since 2015 the SEC has gotten 80 teams in the tournament, the lowest number of conference wins was 12, that happened once, 49 of those 80 teams have hosted a regional, 31 of those were a top 8 seed so would have hosted a super if they won their regional.

These are the numbers I have compiled, do not take them as gospel, I make lots of mistakes.

The number of SEC wins that have made the tournament

13 or fewer - 10
14 - 5
15 - 6
16 - 11
17 - 9
18 - 9
19 or more - 30

The number of SEC wins that have hosted a regional

13 or fewer - 1
14 - 0
15 - 2
16 - 5
17 - 3
18 - 8
19 or more - 30

The number of SEC wins that have hosted a super

17 - 1
18 - 3
19 or more - 27

If you are an SEC team invited to the tournament, 19 or more wins have been an automatic regional host and 90% have been a top 8 seed. 18 wins have been an 88% chance of hosting a regional and a 1 in 3 chance of hosting a super.

If you look a bit deeper you will find most with fewer than 18 wins who host a regional are ranked in the top 25 and often the top 15.
