LSU Football Depth Chart (Observed March 7, 2024) [1 image]

This Depth Chart reflects my observations of the videos released earlier today from Spring practice.
• Other than the order of some of the walk-ons, it is not conjecture.
• Special Teams were not recorded.
• Players with a strikethrough were not observed in the videos.
Offense (3-Deep)
• Bo Bordelon has moved from LT2 to RT2.
• Kyle Parker is #2 Slot WR. As observed near the end last season, he has emerged as the leading WR from last year's freshmen. Shelton Sampson was at #3 Field WR behind CJ Daniels.
Defense (4-Deep)
• Da’shawn Womack is now #2 JACK (WDE), and Dylan Carpenter has moved to #3 DE.
• Gabriel Reliford and Ahmad Breaux both lined up on the field at the same time at #4 DE. There were about 14 defensive players on the field for that play.

Not a whole lot of depth between the offensive tackles. Unfortunate to lose Martinez and have to move Kimo to DT.

Told y’all we were gonna run a 3-3-7 defense

And people act like losing Heard was just business as usual. Better hope Campbell and Jones stay upright.

Major Burns at Star is interesting.
Gilbert & Sage at other Safeties

What does the number mean in the column describing how many letters for each player?

If Whit Weeks doesn't start in the spring is there a risk he goes to portal?

Sage been labeled at every DB position at some point in his career

First, LSU has 14 scholarship players along the OL. That is the perfect number IMO. Second, as far as "between the OTs", that assumes no person listed under the OT position could move inside. I assume you have kept up with the LSU philosophy the last couple of years. LSU coaches have talked about "cross-training", so I think your concern is misplaced. Third, the fact that many of these backups have never seen the field is common in today's college football. The transfer portal has taken away experienced depth such as Martinez. Ask little Nicky what was one of the main reasons he retired...he has said so publicly that it is frustrating to him that players being counted on in the future at Alabama decided to depart.

3+3+7 == about 14

Superb job on the depth chart, man!
And unfortunately, you moved Brooks to the proper position. Once again, he is obviously headed towards a medical retirement scholarship should he return to LSU.
I'm going to repeat my response the last time a depth chart was posted regarding predicted departures when the number of scholarship players was set at 89. The limit is 85 in the fall. Here is what I said before and repeat it since I see no need to change my earlier prediction)
Brooks -1 (not on athletic scholarship anymore)
Ausberry -1 (if he qualifies for paid education being Verge's son)
Langlois -1 (transfer portal, notice he wasn't out there)
Ibieta -1 (transfer portal, notice he wasn't out there)
Gilbreath -1 (transfer portal, I'm specifically listing him now as the TE)
Dibert -1 (transfer portal)
That would get LSU down to 83 allowing 2 transfer portal guys in May to get scholarships. Hey, I ran this by Brian Polian and his dad Bill and they both said I was spot on.

I'm really excited about this team. There are some question marks that will have to be addressed with optimum player utilization and coaching, but this is a group of players that is talented enough to make the playoff and win it all as long as they stay healthy.

I’d be lying if I said the defense doesn’t worry me. Very little experienced talent along the DL and secondary. Gonna need some sophomores and freshman to really step up.

Disagree with that. LSU played multiple guys extensively in the secondary who were TR FR...Yaites, Stamps, Toviano and Jordan Allen and Hughes some. Add in Gilbert with extensive PT at A&M and Alexander assuming he makes an early return which by reports he will. I didn't even mention Burns and Sage which personally I don't think highly of. I also didn't mention Johnson and J Brown since former Ohio State CBs actually hitting the LSU field has been speculative at best in 2 years.
Along the DL, you have Swinson, Shand, Jones, Womack, and Guillory. Lee I have seen nothing from honestly and Washington is obviously an unknown being a transfer. Like most here, the interior DL is the biggest question mark but the outside DL is fine along with the secondary IMO.

They’re going to turn Trey’Dez Green into a beast too

Xavier Atkins will be a name to remember. He graduates on May 24th and is moving in his apartment May 25th. This summer, working out with the team will help him alot.
