Really haven’t gave them much thought other than the last couple weeks when I realized the season was creeping up on us. Saw Matt McMahon nailed a couple recruits for next years class and is doing well there but what is to be expected from this current team? Tourney?

Yikes I just checked odds. Nevermind. So similar to last year.

Picked 13/14 in SEC play by the media.

Will be better than 13th.

Hopefully we aren’t a disappointment again. I think this is his third season?

From what I’ve seen so far making the tournament would be a hell of a coaching job. If I had to predict on such a small sample size I’d say middle of the pack in the SEC. If we want to have any chance at making the tourney we need to win these non conference games coming up.

We need to win at least 2 of the bigger non con games , not drop a game to a weaker non cons like we did last year, and finish middle of the pack in the SEC. We have KState coming up and that would be a good start.

If we win a game or two in Greenbrier, upset K-State and go 9-9 in the SEC again, that would be a great season for this team

This is probably the best review. Bigs all look good, guards have been up and down. Luckily the freshmen all look talented and 2 of them are guards so we can see late season improvement there. Givens can give us a 6'3" point and V Miller can give us a 6'5" 2/3 with 3 point range.

Wild cards are Chest (athletic 6'8" but raw) and Boyde (7 footer and big shoulders with skills) as we go into December and the conference schedule.

Look for better rim protection and rebounding. Guard play will depend on the transfers early and younger players as the season goes on.

Likely NIT, maybe a tad better than last year. The season is young, but I can't realistically see a higher ceiling than that with this roster and coach.

Watch Thursday night, young lady.

We're picked to finish 14th by the coaches.

I think this coach will beat that projection, but can he finish above .500 to beat last year's outcome? I'm not sure. This team is so new. It's hard for anyone to predict, imo.

NIT would be ok if he can return talent into a NCAA run, top-4 finish in the SEC.

That's what we want.

You have to tell why in basketball. It's because of how new this team is.

He has to finish over .500, imo to keep the tiger-faithful attention.

And, once he's there, contact Will Wade to play and beat the shite out of him. That'll be worth a 3-year extension.

Ward is a loss. However, this is the deepest backcourt\forward group CMM has had. Sears, givens, Bailey, Williams, carter will provide a 24/7 offensive threat. I expect to see Collins get some time at 3, allowing miller, fountain or chest to get a clean mid-3pt shot. Not saying they win the conference but they have possibility.

We have a tough schedule this year. K State, SMU, FSU, Pitt, UCF/Wisconsin, etc plus a loaded SEC are gonna make it tough. Realistically I can see us going .500 in SEC play again. History has shown us even finishing slightly below .500 in SEC play is good enough to make the NCAAT with a good OOC record and a couple SECT wins. It all hinges on OOC play this year imo. It's very possible we finish OOC play 7-5 and barely make the NIT again or we finish 11-1 and make the NCAAT.

We undoubtedly got better roster and coaching wise, but so did a lot of the SEC. I think we will learn a lot this upcoming game against K State.
I'm not worried about setting the benchmark as a NCAAT or NIT berth or whatever. I just care about a win total. 20 wins and the rest will take care of itself in regards to a postseason play berth.

We would most likely be dancing with this or on the cusp. A lot depends on who we beat or lose to

If he doesn’t make NCAA tournament he has to go. This one is on Woody for letting Wade go instead of having a set and fighting for Will. Well Wade has been gone long enough ,no more blaming him

In Year 3 we theoretically SHOULD be a tournament team.

We don't know yet just how good we actually are so we don't know if those expectations are feasible.

If he keeps his recruiting class together and gets Cenac, he should get another year unless we look like year 1.

top-4 finish in the SEC

Would be great, but AL, TN, AR, and Aubie all ranked in top 15 or so. We have 4 other teams in top 25. I think 6-7 in league is a tremendous success

I've got them around 9-9 in SEC play

11/18 teams on their SEC schedule are ranked. So going 9-9 should be good enough to get in the tourney. I think they are capable of beating Florida, A&M, and Ole Miss in the PMAC and stealing some road wins against Georgia and Miss St.

The key will be OOC play. If they don't lose to Nicholls and get blasted by Syracuse and K State last year, they may have been a bubble team. Remember, with NET, how you lose matters.

This next week and a half should give us an idea of how good they can be. @ Kansas St and neutral site against Pitt will be big tests. Both of those teams are expected to be middle of the pack in their respective conferences
