LSU Players Who Could Have Shined with Better Opportunities

I’ll start with David Ducre. Listed at 6’0, 238 lbs, he was ranked as the No. 1 fullback in the country and the 186th overall prospect. A four-star recruit according to ESPN, Scout, and 247, he rushed for 1,500 yards and 21 TDs his senior year. His athleticism was off the charts, with verified times of 10.6 in the 100m, 22.6 in the 200m, and a 4.4 in the forty.
When he got to LSU, he was initially listed as a running back but finished his career not getting a single carry. Eventually, he was moved to fullback and tight end. Sucks that he was there at the same time with Fournette, Guice and Darrel Williams but damnit Ducre should’ve gotten some carries.

Terrance Toliver would have been one of the greats if he had burrow or daniels

Not to mention Chris Toliver

Russell Shepard playing qb would have been fun to watch. Will always be the biggest “what if” imo. Not in the les miles offense but in todays style of college football.

Russell Shepard couldn't have been used less creatively under Les.
I had a class with him and he was a nice dude. Always made me think how much trust/faith players put in a program to set them up for success - and sometimes these kids get fricked.

Ended up doing good for himself with time in league and his business adventures after his playing days were over. Good for him!

if he would have had them in year 2 of starting for LSU. Not year 1. People forget that so easily.

Couldn’t be more wrong. Yes we were a conservative team, but Les won and had wrs on multiple all SEC/all American teams. Shep was actually starting to become quite the weapon for us, but after his sophomore year we signed Odell and Jarvis- quite possible the best slot wr class ever - and was passed up (they were both better than Shep in almost every way). If they go elsewhere Shep has monster upperclassmen years.

Bert Jones - one of the best arms to ever wear P&G and was stuck in Mac's 2-QB, conservative system.

Why would he? He’s not that type of person, he chose to stay and enjoyed his time at LSU even if he was kind of pushed down the depth chart by better players.
