LSU vs. Alabama 2012 and SVP's Thoughts

LSU vs Alabama 2012 was one year removed from the last time we beat them. I remember the game vividly, partly because it was shortly removed from a devastating loss in my life and partly because it was the most incredible sports atmosphere I have ever experienced. For me, the way it ended was tragic beyond a mere loss for me (I won't get into that here). But, WOW, the journey of that afternoon and night was one that I will never forget.
Scott Van Pelt felt it was not only the greatest college football atmosphere he ever experienced, but it was the greatest sports atmosphere he ever experienced.
Here are his thoughts on that night: Scott Van Pelt on LSU/Bama 2012
I hope we can recreate that emotion and intensity this coming Saturday night.

That monologue never gets old.
SVP was a closet tiger fan until that night. He came out bigtime.

My favorite part of that is
"and then the band plays 'bah bahh bahhh bah"
to Russillo: "you love that part to"
"I do"

I hope he and Rusillo make it this week. Stadium is bigger and will be even louder this week.

A great testimonial from SVP, although for me there's always a dark cloud surrounding it: we lost.
Not this year.
Not this year.

You can feel it building.
If the Tigers can keep it close, the fans will be as loud as they have ever been.

Maybe the loudest I've heard the stadium was when Jarvis caught that TD to take the lead in the 4th Quarter. We could feel it shaking in the uppers.
Don't forget, we were down 14-3 at half. We stood tall and stormed back to take a 17-14 lead.
In the words of Kyle Williams, "we gotta win this game in the deep water." Its going to be uncomfortable, we gotta dig deep and find a way.

To hold Alabama to negative yardage the entire half, then not even force a third down on that awful drive after they had so much time on the sideline because of Mettenberger's performance.
It was a great opportunity to bust Alabama back a few pegs after 1/9. LSU could've been the team beating an overrated ND team in Miami.
After that choke job, LSU went on to fold to Clemson and has since then not had parity with either program. It's time to unfrick ourselves and back into an elite program.

The 2012 and 2014 games vs Bama are very special to me despite the outcome. Spent them with some incredible people in once in a lifetime scenarios. Amazing experience at both besides the end result. Tiger Stadium will be like that this weekend and that’s as good as it can ever be.
