LSU vs Tulane 1984 that ended in an all out brawl

This was a very memorable game. Any video of this online?

I still see it in my head. I was in the north end zone and the brawl happened in the south end zone. All of the EBR deputies were on the north side near the students. The deputies start running on the field after it all started to break it up. Imagine some rather fat, out of shape deputies running a 7.0 40 trying to get there to break it up.
In the video that was shown on local tv, you see a tulane player taking off his helmet to fight (how stupid) and I think it was Burks who just nailed him. Burks kept his helmet on.

Sophmore year and I sat in the student section with my girlfriend. At least 6 fights in our section by intruding yats from mandeville.
I have distorted video of that game logged in the deepest part of the "drunken collection" in my brain from that night.
Tommy Clapp body slammed a player after he grabbed him from the sideline. The state police running out there to stop it was pretty funny too. It was funny as hell to watch.

My dad used to tell me about that game. He was there, said it was like the ending of Animal House.

I can still see Shawn Burks, running full speed and clothes lining 2 Tulane players in the endzone

Shawn Burks was one of the meanest people/football players ever. In 6th grade at Central Middle school he was walking towards me between classes and kicked me square in the nuts. To this day I still don't know why he did that. He would fight anybody anywhere over the littlest issues you could think of. He would be on the meanest top 10 of LSU football ever.

For some reason, this made me laugh. Not that it's funny to get kicked in the nuts, but just envisioning Burks doing this.

That was my first game in TS

I was there, southwest corner of the endzone, down low. I was trying to scream something to my brother who was right next to me, he couldn't here me. I also remember after the game, everyone hanging around on the ramps watching it over and over on the monitors. awesome experience

I was in Tiger Band at the time and it was awesome!! My Dad said it reminded him of the LSU-Tulane games when he was at LSU in the late 40's. There were always fights either on the field or in the stands when they played the greenie weenies.

my memory is of eric martin leaving the sideline area and hauling arse to the end zone to join in the melee. he was interviewed on the post game show after the game was over and he said he was in a hurry because he didn't want to miss out on one more chance to take the greenies down.

I'll never forget that. Before the game started I was telling my friend that I wanted to see a bench clearing brawl. No lie! My wish was granted and it was glorious!
I think it was Tommy Clapp who said on the news after "I got my licks in."

"I think he may have started that fight"
Nope. Wally English admitted the next day or during the week that one of the Tulane players started it all......

James White started the brawl on an extra point...after the brawl, Wally English actually walked into the tunnel to shake Coach Arnsparger's hand, interrupting the post game team meeting...it was surreal! Coach Arnsparger commented to the team, "we won the game and we won the fight"...classic!

It was only like my second or third LSU game. We were sitting above the visitors section. I couldn't believe how long it went. I remeber just as soon as it seemed like everyone had calmed down, 2 or 3 players started going at it in the corner of the endzone and it started all over again.

i remember it vividly. to the younger ranters....you may not understand the sheer HATRED for Tulane, by fans AND players, when football was still a true rivalry, say pre 1995. it was unlike any hate for any SEC team now.
