At a preseason kickoff press gathering earlier this week in New Orleans, Verge Ausberry is reported to say that LSU & Tulane is talking about scheduling games in the future.
Speculation is that Oklahoma & Oklahoma State is being pressed by state politicians to begin playing again - probably on Thanksgiving weekend. This would leave LSU looking for a 12th game. A&M is going to play Texas. Arkansas is going to play Mizzou.
Since I was at the 62-0 games, I remember the rivalry & would like to see the game again. Assuming a 4 to 1 Baton Rouge vs Dome, LSU would win eleven out of ten games & since it is an instate game, the CFP committee would probably accept it over a regular G5 rent-a-win.

That doesn't make any sense. They can't replace a conference game with a non-conference game.

When did Tulane re-join the SEC?

Tulane is not playing LSU in the Superdome
My guess is LSU would want 2 home games in order to give Tulane a game at Yulman which is a losing proposition for LSU or a game in Tiger Stadium, game in Superdome with LSU getting most of tickets/revenue and a game at Yulman. That would likely be the only way for it to work

I'd love to see LSU and Tulane start playing again. Tulane is competitive and a higher Tier 1 team than playing Nicholls State or South Alabama for gosh sakes.

I just don't think they'll ever agree to a home and home nor a Superdome deal.

We should NOT play toolame anytime, anywhere and in any sport.
We have absolutely nothing to gain by playing the slime.
This desire to play them is driven by the media and by people who have no real loyalty to LSU. Real LSU supporters don’t want this.

So you know what “Real LSU supporters don’t want.”? Are you a mentalist?
I am an LSU supporter and alum. I would love to see this restored.

Tulane has screwed LSU in the past …tell them NO and get lost…what a stupid decision they made to leave the SEC…

The greenies always shoot themselves in the foot and it is glorious to watch.

Should've hired Rich Rod instead hire Chris Scelfo
Should've let Willie Fritz pick who he wanted as AD they say no so he leaves.
Fritz had them absolutely rolling in a NY Bowl game vs USC.

Again, Tulane always shows it's arse

So LSU would replace a SEC Conference game with Tulane. C'Mon man.

I don't know how ppl aren't understanding that the point of this post is that LSU will not have an SEC team that makes sense to play in week 12 moving forward, so we could possibly do what Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and South Carolina all do, which is have a yearly in state school to play. That seemed obvious.

Re comments about Tulane replacing OU as a SEC game, to quote last line of OP:

"LSU would win eleven out of ten games & since it is an instate game, the CFP committee would probably accept it over a REGULAR G5 RENT-A-WIN."

i.e.: we replace a non-conference game with Tulane over Thanksgiving weekend, like Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, etc. does by playing a non SEC team over Thanksgiving weekend!

Holy shite we got some dumb arse fans.

No man. They’re talking about the date, on the last weekend of the season when teams play their 12th game. And they’re not talking about this season.

ETA: we still haven’t scheduled a 12th opponent for 2025 & beyond. Currently have 3 for 2029 so the big question would be 8 or 9 SEC Opponents.

For the record, OU/OSU didn’t always play bedlam on Thanksgiving weekend.
If LSU can’t play OU or Arkansas on that weekend, then I wouldn’t mind adding Tulane in that spot.

Kind of like a UGA-GT or Tenn-Vandy rivalry. Not that competitive, but keeps it in state.

He did say that was being discussed. He told that to the Quarterback Club. I was one of the few people who refrained from clapping.

I wouldn’t mind it, and the games would be competitive since Tulane’s program is very solid at the moment.

LSU may play Tuilane again at some point, but it will never play a game at Yulman Stadium. Seating capacity for Yulman is 30,000, which is all Tulane needs, but LSU hasn't played in a stadium that small since the 1950s.

I agree with el gato re not playing in Yulman re 30K fans...hell, LSU has had more than 30K watching the band come down the hill!
Since the Bayou Classic has the Dome tied up for the Friday & Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, the one game in a Blue Moon to be played New Orleans would have to be on Thanksgiving.

I guran damn tee if you ask Arkansas fans and administrators they’d rather play LSU during that week than Mizzou.

I don’t think Mizzou gives a shite about Arkansas and vice versa. LSU and Arkansas is a decent rivalry and would be fine.

Also the thought of LSU agreeing to play at a 30K stadium every other year is laughable. Even if it’s Nola. It’s not worth it at this point. I’m all for a 2 for 1 series with Tulane. Not an even share home and home. Sorry we’re above that.

I like it. Give a little breather before SECCG and/or playoff.
